Food is awful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/20/10
Went to dinner at Oma's on Sunday evening after a 6 hr drive from NY. Disfuctional to start with. I oredered a German Beer, The waitress did not know the name (it was on the menu). Came back said they where out of it. They brought out another brand that was awful. Finally I said just an HB draft hoping they had that. We thought the dinner menu would have more german food. Limited choice. My wife ordered the Jaguer stinzel and I the varity plate. The bratwurst I had was the worst ever, the stinzel was dry, looked like an old prune, the jaguer stinzel was fair. The potatoe dumplings looked like little frozen chicken nugets from McDonalds and tasted worst. The veggies where ok. We got the bill (over $50,00) no desert, and they had charged us for the beer I did not get. Through the entire meal the waitress was confused )nice but confused). I am from Germany and have eaten at many resturants here in the states that serve excellent German food. This was disgusting and a disgrace to German food. Will not return. We thought the resturanmt was empty because we came early, little after 4Pm, but only one other couple came later. No wonder, word is out, avoid the place.

WILL NOT GO BACK EVER...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/4/10
where do I begin, everything was backwards, felt like I walked into another planet, rooms were dirty with white stuff on the floors like they were not vacuumed well, we asked for a balcony room got inside room, full or 3/4 beds come on you people have lots of money you could put queens in there like splash village has, beds were very small. Help seemed dysfunctional, asked where things were and some did not know where to tell us to go, seems like help is not properly trained. Went to Oma's for lunch, oh my salt attack, the soup was bad, hot chicken sandwich did not have hardly NO gravy on it and what little gravy it had was so salty, we ended up going down to splash village for dinner, did not want to chance another meal that is expensive and not good. Do not mind paying for anything as long as it is good. The restaurant down by putt putt golf, well we walked in there and what the people were eating did not look good, you could not even get a homemade muffin there, we got saralee in a package, why not bring over bake goods from Zender's. Pools had so much chlorine in them it was burning the eyes. Asked my 7 year old grandson if he liked the place and would like to come back and he said no gram I do not like this place at all. Arcade is so spread out, and the people behind the counter do not know what the heck they are doing. This hotel is so cut up, to many pinch points, you can tell the design of the building had NO thought in it when being built. We will not be back, if this was the only hotel in Michigan I would stay in my backyard for a get away, None of us liked it at all 4 adults and 1 child.

Love the place !!! See you guys soon
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/17/10
We have come here since my children were 3 years and up and they are very grown up with thier own kids going there now. We stay there for New years eve and snowfest and they treat use very good, it is expensive but we really enjoy ourselves there. The staff goes out of thier way to make sure we are happy. The rooms could use a little updating and the bathrooms in the room could be a little larger but in all we really enjoy it there. If your needing a quick little get away fix this is the place, many things for the kids to do, they love there, pools, games, great pizza, the karoke is fun as well for the kids, and the whole town is cool, like I said, check it out, it is worth it on a weekday stay over but very pricey on saturdays... Make sure you use the coupons that are given it helps in saving a few dollars and enroll in the perks club, there's perks! Check out the whole little town. Can't wait to go back!!! Love the place !!!

wedding from Hades
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/09
I recently had my wedding here and anything that could have gone wrong did. The wedding planner I was working with (that the lodge supplied) had the weekend of my wedding off. Mind you I booked my wedding a year in advance. They should have been able to at least introduce me to the one how would be running my wedding that weekend, since the wedding planner knew at our last meeting she wouldn’t be there. They lost several of our guest reservations also charged them more and didn’t deliver cots until around 10:30pm after 2 trips down to the front desk, even though we had called ahead and had a note on file that they would need cots. They lost my reservation and I was the bride they gave me a regular room although I had paid for a suite. The wedding planner they gave us was useless for the wedding and my bridesmaids and groomsmen were clueless i.e. the aisle runner was put down as I was walking up to the aisle, when the DJ was going to announce the bridal party I was directing them since the wedding planner had disappeared. I got yelled at by a lady who works there because the food wasn’t getting served because my maid of honor was trying to locate my antique cake knife which had gone missing. So food was served without her. We had food for guests with dietary needs and it was served cooled and not cooked all the way. I had paid for a cake to be delivered to my father’s table at the wedding and it was undelivered and when I found out several hours later they refused to locate it even though had paid for it. Luckily a bar tender who was at my wedding walked by and finally after she went into the freezer found my cake. We had a late night snack that was paid for and never delivered. To top it all off they broke my antique cake knife the only thing I had received from my grandfather before he passed away a couple months earlier. Although after my husband complained and almost 3 days of waiting the called us and offered us a couple hundred dollars to fix the issues we had after we spent thousands there. I will never recommend this place to anyone especially since after all that the beds were uncomfortable. It was beautiful, but if you plan your wedding here make sure details don’t matter and that you don’t bring antiques.

My Kids Won't Go ANYWHERE Else!
By Me, 10/4/09
We went here in 1996 for the first time, and have only missed one year going. I usually take an 1-2 extra friends/family members every time. It's a GREAT place for families who do N-O-T like the out-of-control, screaming manics found at the Wolf L:odge type places. Kids BEHAVE here! Maybe the cost is high enough to weed out riff-raff. Bottom line: GO! We go 2-3 times/yr. from Indianapolis. AWESOME!

Needs an Update
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/12/08
After seeing pictures in the brochures of the rooms we were very disappointed with our mini suite. The beds were the old murphy beds and sat on the floor. They also sagged in the middle. The cupboards on the walls were peeling. The carpet, sleeper sofa and chair were newer. There were alot of things for the kids to do but they were disappointed that Willy is only in the brochures and is not a character that comes out for kids to meet and greet.

Mediocre at best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/6/08
Service was terrible as was parking. When I called the front desk to explain that there were no luggage carts at our entrance, I was told to go to another entrance and get one myself. If you don't have a handicap placard or plates, good luck finding a space near your room, as they book weddings, conferences and other events. The Room was clean, beds were hard and the balcony had cigarette butts all over it. Definitely not worth the money. The claim to have an indoor waterpark with five indoor pools and three whirlpools is misleading. The pools are tiny and the waterpark consisted of a couple of water squiters. We will not stay there again!
