Love This Place
By Laura, 8/29/11
We've been staying here for years and wouldn't stay any place else. It's not a 5 star resort, it's just your regular small beach motel and it's very clean. I've never had an issue with any of the staff and most of the patrons are the same people year after year. It's right on the beach, there are two pools (most people forget about the one across the street - we normally have that all to ourselves) and a Thursday hot dog cook out! We love it!

Love it!
By mylife, 5/30/10
I've been to this place on two occasions. The people at front desk are always nice and accomadating. I like to stay somewhere affordable to sleep, not a Grand resort. I enjoy actually being on the beach. This place is ideal for you if you care more about being out of the room. The rooms were not extravagent, but clean. We had everything we needed and we felt safe. I didn't see any bugs, stains, or any other strange things. Fridge and air/heat worked fine. Maids were very friendly and nice to my young son. I am planning a trip again very soon!

Not bad!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/6/09
You get what you pay for people! It's way cheaper than most other places right on the beach. The front desk was very nice to us...they had the maids get our room ready even though we arrived a couple hours before check in. However, I wanted my sheets changed while we were there (my daughter dropped food on her bed) and they couldn't change them- they said they were out of sheets, and the room was very hot and humid...it's an older hotel, fairly clean, decent location, and smells sort of old. However, if you are on a budget it's a cute place to stay...and the weiner roast they have on Thursday nights is cute and thoughtful, the kids love it!

hateful customer service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/28/09
I was trying to get prices on a hotel and the man at the service desk yelled at me because he couldnt hear me. He told me to call the 1-800 number and told him I couldnt call from a land line and he said well then I needed to stand still so we could have a conversation. Very hateful and I will not send any business his way.

Nice Rooms, Great Prices!
I love the inexpensiveness of the resort. I come to the beach each year in September and for my last two trips this is where my family stayed. The front desk staff was very helpful and courteous. I look forward ti seeing you real soon.

Not going Back!
By Mary L, 8/29/08
After more than 5 years of staying at this location on vacation, I was guaranteed a lower level room so that I would not have to carry my luggage and granddaughter upstairs.Upon arriving at the hotel, the clerk argued that I had not been guaranteed a lower level room. I was told that there were no other effeciency rooms avaiable. I agreed to take the room. Upon entering the room it smelled musty, the inside of the refrig had black mold around the door, the freezer door was broken off hinges, kitchen counter top was peeling in large areas and cracked, bathroom sink and commode had yellowish brown (removable)specks, wash clothes were dirty, mirrors were dirty, kitchen area cabinets had food and other residue inside. I complained by calling the front desk, where the clerk was rude and told me that I have a refund and find somewhere else to stay or I could change to a smaller room. He rudely let me know the payment difference in the rate would only be $4 per night. He did not offer to help tranisition our luggage (For three people), but did send the maintainance man to open another room for us.I reluctantly agreed to take the room due to the legnth of travel and the three of us being tired (including a three yer old.)We were allowed to move to a smaller room where the bathroom eletric outlets did not work (no electricity) and were covered with a plate that provided a place for a light switch that did not exist (light switch on outside wall of bathroom).During our visit we found two large insects that appeared to be ants with wings in the bath area. A large black roach/beetle under the bed turned upside down and alive, and a spider in my 3 year old granddaughter's shoe. We took the all but the spider to the front desk, but we were told that bugs came in from outside at the beach. We had not had the door open other than traveling in and out to enter and exit. The outdoor hot tub was cold for most of the day on our second day and was almost unbearably hot when adjusted later that night.

Awesome for the Price!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/8/08
I don't know what people expected when the booked a room at the mystic sea, its no secret that the mystic sea isn't a 5 star all inclusive resort. But with what you pay, its one of the best values in myrtle beach. Me and my family stayed there last year in the charleston house, which is across street from the main building, PLENTY OF PARKING. The room was nice and clean it had a small kitchen in it, and the air conditioner worked and the beds were very comfortable. In my opinion you don't need a fancy hotel for vacation, because if your like me you just need somewhere to sleep at night, because its just a waste of money if your paying $100-$200 a night, if your just going to sleep there. So over-all I think that its a great affortable place for a nice family vacation. I'm going back this year and my family and I are staying in th courtside condos, and I'm looking forward to returning year after year with my family.

Ok for price
By thriftygirl, 8/26/07
We stayed in room 218-NEVER EVER EVER Saty ain this room. All we needed was 1 bed, so we took this one. It is 2 feet across from the maide's closet where they store eveything and wash all teh laundry-VERY VERY LOUD!!! We were awakened by 7 each morning against our will by loud cursing workers complaining abou their job and making a ton of noise. You also hear the ice machine(located in between this and the next door hotel and you have to pay for each bucket you get) dropping ice all night long which echos. Very few outlets-had to unplug lamp and make coffee in the floor-better than making it in the bathroom.Small pool that was overflowing with unsupervised kids most of the time. Hot tub was nice when you could get in it. Tons of lounge chairs by teh pool and teh grassy ocenfront spot to lay out and sunbathe if you wish. Fridge was unplugged and turned ogg when we arrived, had to wait on it to cool b4 placing our already hot groceries in it. They do have a reasonably priced Mini Mart across the street-I reccomend walking as parking is too hard to come by in the main lot-if you move, you lose. Non-smoking room, yet cutains had been burned and poorly fixed. You have to pay extra for a safe lock and all local calls are $.50.Floor looked as though it hadn't been vacumed in a while and teh towels/washclothes were horrible-very cheap, stained and almost wholey. All in all, it was ok for teh price and we would probably return as long we don't have to stay near that closet again. By the way, if your closterphobic, stay away from the elevator-old and small. Most of the shops and eateries are way up ocean blvd, but that's ok if you don't want all that noise. We found it's much cheaper to park near Peaches Corner using the meters than paying $6 to park. Bedspread is very light and itchy with one very thin sheet, but the air on as low as it will go will freeze you out of there it is so cold. One of teh bathroom lights wouldn't work half teh time and we found black hairs all in the bathroom floor. It is SC state law to close all pools and spas at 11pm, howver they do let you get by with sometimes till later. Most of the staff is pretty friendly other than those pesky maides. Bed is worn out and hurt our backs so bad, my husband slept on the floor one night.

Clean place for the $$$
By Audrey, 6/27/07
We enjoyed our visit to Mystic Sea. The room was a small room with a Queen bed, just what we ordered. Very clean and smelled clean when we entered the room. The bed was comfortable. Good water pressure. The office staff are not the vicious people they are painted to be. They are all about business and are not welcoming you in with cookies/donuts like some of the upper class hotels and condos do. We own a time-share, and you are not going to get a $280/night room for the rate we paid this visit. We didn't have any expectations upon arrival, so we were not disappointed that there were no perks. I'm not sure what people expect for the rates they are paying here. No ironing board, hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner, although they do provide the small bars of soap. The pool is very nice, not very big, and ocean front. The hot tub was nice the first night, didn't work too good the next couple nights. They have a nice lawn with rocking chairs and lawn chairs. The beach access was easy, although they do need to take a weedeater and cut back some on the path. Couldn't pass someone else on the short path without getting in the weeds. We would definitely come back for another visit. I do have one question, how do they classify their hotel a "resort?" It is just a regular hotel with no perks, very clean, and moderately kept up. The parking is bit a pain on some nights parking across the street, but it is less than a half block walk back to the hotel. I read that there was no lighting on the parking lot across the street, so either they have added some or the remark was exaggerated. Just remember--when making the reservation, there is a nonrefundable cancellation fee, this is not a resort--just a nice clean hotel, be clear when making reservations about which location as they have a hotel across the street, and be sure if you request oceanfront that you request a room not in front of the stairwell.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/2/07
I like this hotel becasue it accomodated all my family. We have large family and it is hard to find a resonable hotel that is affordable and at the same time a nice place to spend our vaction at. We love the Mystic Sea Resort and will be using them this year as well.
