Americas Best Value Inn, Albany

I recently stayed at this hotel. I was expecting the worst because I read these previous comments about the hotel, but to my surprise from the time I stepped in the door I felt welcomed. First off the desk clerk was so nice. She greeted me with a smile ( u don't get that everywhere). I might have wasted time up there when I could have been in my room, but she was so pleasant to talk with. When I did get to the room (25 minutes later) the only thing that I didn't have was an iron. It only took her 3 minutes to get me one. A little southern hospitality goes a long way with me, and the rooms are at a very reasonable rate.

I stayed there around 4 nights and it was really awful. I am not a demanding person I just like when it is clean. Anyways this was not the case. After the first night I found 2 DEAD ROACHES in my bathroom !!!! I told the manager to do something about it and it took them 2 days to take any action BUT when they cleaned the roaches up - they LEFT A CORPUS of one of them in the bathroom!!!!!!!! I don't expect for $80/night a super service w/ jacuzzi but for got sake I dont want to see roaches! 2. The coffee machine (the only thing I really need in the morning) was leaking!!!! I dont even know how it was possible. 3. The lights in the room were so dim I could not read neither during the day nor at night. 4. There were spiderwebs (w/ spiders) in the bathroom and when I told manager about it he said that no one had ever complained about webs before (!!!). 5. The girl in the reception had tattoos on her arms, forearms etc. Not a very nice view. I think I would have been much better off if I stayed in a motel!

I liked that it was close to the interstate, but no noise. The bad part is that we arrived very late (about midnite) and when we got all of our belongings in the room we realized our toilet didn't work. The lights that were next to the bed didn't work. We also had 4 people in our room and only 2 towels. The pillows were horrible (almost nonexistant). The hotel is pretty old and needs a facelift. We were suppose to stay two nights, but checked out first thing the next morning. We wouldn't have stayed at all, but we were too tired to load everything back up and find another hotel at that our with our kids.
