Not as family friendly as you would think
By Bill, 12/21/09
We actually never made our trip to the Dillard House. We were supposed to go for our 5 year anniversary, but my wife seriously injured her foot. All of the vendors associated with the Dillard House were very understanding and let us cancel no problem. The Dillard house and their manager was anything but understanding. First off he didnt't believe my wife and asked for a doctors note. He told us if we produced that he would see what he could do and said he would at least let us go another weekend. When we faxed him the doctors note, he said he couldn't read it and didnt believe it was real. He said he was going to charge our credit card and wouldnt let us go another weekend. When we told him the doctor said my wife should be on bed rest, he replied we have beds int he room and she can rest all day long. He is the rudest manager I have ever met. We tried numerous times to contact the Dillard family and got no response. My wife and I used to go to the Dillard house when we were young and it seemed very family oriented. I think they are trying to live by on that image of the past. They are after the money and nothing more. Don't visit this place if you are looking for a family oriented vacation or visit to the mountains.

Had a great time and will go back soon
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/29/09
We stayed in Chalet #12 and it was very clean and was very roomy. We are a family of four and we did not even use the loft. We will be back for another vacation there in the future. We did the horse back riding and we enjoyed it immensely. The grounds for the Dillard property was well maintained. We ate breakfast and dinner at the restaurant and thought it was great. The vegetables were fresh. You get a table full of food. We would recommend the Dillard House to anyone. For the price, check out the Chalet's. Lots to do and little to do.

Skip this property and restaurant.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/15/09
This is the biggest rip-off in the State of Georgia. At a time in the past it was a fairly good place to visit and eat. Not anymore. Most of the viggies come from a can, the meats are overfcooked. I really believe the meat is saved overnight and recooked the next day. Being a cook and chef I would fire anyone who worked for me that put this food out to eat. Over priced and the help in recent years is not what it use to be when the school kids were handling the tables. I would not suggest anyone visit this establishment, but find another place to eat. My most recent visit was to see if any changes for the good had taken place and I must say it has sunk even lower. Never again and will advise everyone I have contact with to just skip this joint and find another place to eat.

Tourist Trap
By Beverly, 11/27/06
Cost to eat is $18.95 per adult; food is good but not that good. Had reservations for 2 nights. Arrived at check-in time; room was not ready, nor was it ready 45 minutes later. Management offered no other options but to wait. Tried to cancel my reservation; was told I would be charged one night stay anyway. As soon as I left the lobby to decide what to do, Dillard House charged my bank card. Beware, this place wants your money more than your satisfaction. There are many other wonderful places to see the North Georgia mountains and enjoy good food. Don't give this mom&pop tourist trap your money.

Second Time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/22/06
Saturday, August 19, 2006, was my second visit to the Dillard House Restaurant, and it my not a very pleasant experience. While the food was exceptional, the service was awful. We were seated, recieved our drinks and food, that was it. Our waitress never appeared again at our table. Fortunately, we were seated next the beverage area, so we were able to get our own beverages. Also, one place-setting was missing a fork. Because of our seating location in the dining room we were able to meet our own needs. Since my first dining experience at the Dillard House Restaurant, I had been looking forward to eating there again, but now I have second thoughts about eating there again.

Food with a View
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/8/05
I have been going to the Dilliard House since I was a small child. Now at 25 the beautiful scenery and wonderful dining has become a favorite for my family. The staff and property are all very beautiful and I love it more and more each time I visit. It is a very special part of my life.
