What a weekend!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/08
After a busy spring and summer, my husband and I needed a weekend get away. We had heard of Chohutta Lodge from family memebers and decided to check it out ourselves. We booked a "Hunters Cabin" #3, and honestly, I was a little nervous. When we checked in, we asked to see the cabin before we "took" the room. The front desk clerk was extremely helpful in telling us how to find it. Upon arrival at our cabin, we were delighted to find this quaint, perfect little cabin. It was new, extremely clean, and back in the woods to allow us to excape from reality. So we gladly returned to the lodge to check in. We were then told that there would be a seafood buffet that night, Friday, and decided to give it a try. The food was extremely good, and the wait staff was very attentive. After a wonderful meal, we retired to our "little cabin in the woods". The next morning, we tried the breakfast buffet, and again the meal was wonderful. The entire weekend was filled with memorable events of this little bit of heaven we have found. We have already booked this same cabin for the fall season. I can't wait to see the views in the fall.

How can they stay open?
By bradley, 06/28/08
I stopped in there last year (summer '07) to cool off with the mountain breezes. The parking lot was empty but I figured since it was mid week it would be a lite crowd. The room I was given was dirty, the bathroom was dirty and I dont think the sheets were clean either! I hightailed it to the front desk and got a refund. I would have been more comfortable sleeping in my car!

NEVER GO!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/19/08
I recently attended a wedding at this lodge. We paid a good amount for the rooms we stayed in. When we got to our room the floor was covered in rollie pollies (alive and dead) The toilet was brown. The a/c unit was half way out together. At the wedding all the plates that were set out for the food were so greasy you could leave a handprint in them. The only thing that was positive about this place was the view.

Come on now...
By Girly, 04/26/08
Ok, this establishment has been renovated- and it's beautiful. The view is amazing. However, the customer service is horrible, and the 'managment' isn't even worth mentioning. I have traveled all over the country, and I have never seen anything like this in my life. If you want a great view, stand in the parking lot, take a lot of pictures, but don't dare enter this place... you will regret it, I promise you.

We love it a perfect run away spot
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/07
Love the people they are so friendly. The service is wonderful and the food served at the Lodge is great. This time we saw the change of season and words can't describe the wonder of it all! We had a suite over looking the gazebo and it was very comfortable. Also at this fall season the inside of the Lodge was decorated very tastefully.

I'll never go back!!!
By gapeach, 08/20/07
We attended a wedding here. We booked a "suite" for $139 a night. To enter the room you had to pass thru the bathroom. There was a clothes rack at the door and this is where you hang your clothes. There was no soap. The shower had no shower head. They did install one after I complained. The toilet did not flush properly. The a/c looked as if it was at least 30 years old, the knobs were broken off, the cover was half ripped off exposing the filter. It was caked in dust and did not cool the room at all. They advertise the room to have a beautiful view, however when I opened the blinds, which were broken, the window was whited out with paint and the only way to enjoy the view was to stand outside on the balcony. The 19" TV only got 2 channels- no cable! I can't believe that they would ever get repeat business. I will never stay there again. That said the setting for the wedding was beautiful in front of a gazebo with the mountains as a backdrop. As far as value goes, we paid more than others who stayed in the lodge and there rooms were much better quality. They should not rent rooms that are clearly in need of serious refurbishment and charge such a high price!! We paid $60 a night extra for a "suite" what a joke!!!

Great view, terrible rooms
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/25/07
My husband and I decided to stay at the Cohutta Lodge for our 1 year anniversary. While the views were magnificent and the service and food at the restaurant were very good, the stay at the lodge was less than desirable. I did realize that the building was not brand new, so I knew not to expect an "up-to-date" room. However, I did at least expect things to be clean and for everything to be in working condition! When we arrived, we checked out the sheets in the bed only to find so many hairs that it was almost as if someone had a hair cut right on the sheets! We called down to the front desk and the manager simply told me that the cleaning service had gone home for the day! No "I'm sorry" or anything! After a bit of discussion, he finally said he would get some linens from the laundry and call me back. When he did called back, he expected me to go back down to the desk and pick them up myself! The room was also extrememly cold and during the night, the air condition made so much racket when it would kick on that we thought it was going to fall out into the street, keeping us up all night! On top of it all, our toilet stopped flushing for a while, and when it finally did flush, it would fill back up with brown, dirty water. There was also no water pressure in the sink. Needless to say, we awoke very early the next morning, packed up our things, and got out of there by 7:30 a.m. We would like to return only to see the view and dine in the restaurant, never to stay again!

terrible dining experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/25/06
We will never go back to the Cohutta Restaraunt, because of a rather unique experience we ran into there. We came to enjoy the beautiful view and instead received the most aweful treatment. The tables were full with dirty dishes, the staff approached only after we waited for 20 minutes and only to reprimand us for sitting in the wrong place and the waitress never even came back after she took the dirty linen off the table. They were somehow determined to run the place they wanted. After being insulted we left without having any food and nobody cared, although we did complained to the management.
