You get what you pay for...
You want a cheap oceanfront hotel right in the middle of the broadwalk -- The Breaker's is right for you, but wait -- you do get what you pay for.... To start your oceanfront view may be partially blocked by an ugly yellow wall due to the hotels odd construction - rooms on the north side of the building have the view of the south beach blocked by the south end of the hotel. Rooms are old and showing age - carpet and flooring dirty. Elevator -- only one and it is slow and hot -- they even have a clip on fan attached to the ceiling in it. Room service -- can be really, really good or really, really bad -- just depends on which lady is cleaning your room - our room was not vacuumed one day, the tub not cleaned, and no clean towels left for us. Pool - small, good for little kids as it is only 5 ft deep and is shaded most of the day... Front desk - often seemed as though no one was there - Ginger was friendly though. The cafe - food is not bad and reasonably priced, but your entire order may not come out all at the same time. The Penthouse.... Jacuzzi tub is showing its age. Roof top deck has no shade and is very hot during the day due to the the rest of the black roof absorbing heat. Deck has a poorly marked 4 inch step that is near impossible to see at night. I fell, twisting an ankle, skinning 1 knee, both elbows, busting my lip, and getting a bloody nose not to mention the sore shoulder and arm. My husband told the young man at the desk it need to be better marked and his reply was that there is a sign -- yeah, a small sign way over to the side that cannot be seen at night -- no concern for my injuries at all. Like I said -- if you want cheap, this place is it, but personally "nice" sometimes counts more than cheap... We will never stay here ever again....
