We've stayed in this motel a few times through the years... Sadly, the years have caught up with our getaway. This recent stay found the structure in disrepair. The staff was kind and courteous. The motel was clean... Big Walker definately needs some BIG money to make necessary updates and repairs.
I was stranded at this hotel for three full days during the Storm of 1996. Besides the fact that the water coming from the sink being opaque, the hotel was pretty nice. The room was warm and the kind gentleman behind the front desk gave me a ride in the back of his pickup anytime my brother and me needed to head to the gas station to get some chow. This hotel became the stuff of legend in my family as a result of this involuntary stay. When the interstate opened back up, we resumed our trip south, but the memories of Bland lingered on.
Great price, clean room, and easy to get to ( I - 77 exit 52 there it is ). I enjoy being able to park in front of my room. There is a porch and gazebo that are great for sunsets and sunrises or just to sit. It's peacefull. There is a gas station and several places to eat.
I liked the fact the rooms were clean and it was american owned and you could park in front of your room and there is a great view of the mountains and the staff was friendly.I would go back...............
This motel is highly recommended. Great location right off Route 77, gas and food is very close, beautiful setting in the mountains. Very reasonable rates, friendly people. Clean rooms and the A/C works great. Not much else to do around there but relax. Bland county now has FREE wireless access so bring your laptop ! I got strong signals from the room !
I loved how cheap it is. The location is amazing right off the interstate. Service Is awesome clean building, Etc. The people are friendly in and around the building there is a gas station and a DQ right there or down the street there is a SUBWAY. So if you are ever in BLAND VA check out THE BIG WALKER MOTEL.
The place isn't new and it doesn't have new furniture. It is a little old and maybe outdated.
But it is VERY, VERY clean - cleaner than most "luxury" hotels I've stayed in. And that is the most important thing to me, especially if I'm just stopping to sleep while on the road.
The girls who work there are really nice, too.
I couldn't have asked for more.
Bit of home-town heaven in the beautiful VA mts. One-half mile up the mountain from the I-77 exit. Don't expect valet parking or a massage, but they will have a fresh pot of coffee in the morning to send you on your way.
No flash, but nice people, a clean room, a Subway and a DairyQueen at the bottom of the mtn., and very convient to the highway. What we really need at the half-way point on the trim from Cleveland to Hilton Head. Pricer are very reasonable.
