Vesuvio Motel, Lewes

Do NOT stay at this motel. The hotel is outdated and the guy (John) that runs the place is a wacko! He stormed in to my soon to be mother inlaw's room and started yelling and cursing at her and she had done NOTHING to him. She said the "BEACH Guide" that rates the local hotels stated the motel allowed pets. Her son went to "JOHN" and advised him that folks would be thinking the hotel was OK with Pets. John proceeded to 'BUST' into her room and started yelling and screaming and spoke MANY volgar words at this 68 year old woman whom had done nothing. When her son approached him about the book he said and I quote... I am gonna throw that *ucking *itch out of that room! Yes can you believe such statements were made. My advice to anyone considering this hotel to continue looking and DO NOT stay at this motel (unless you want to take a chance of witnessing one of the owners uncontrollable rampages. Can any business imagine confronting a guest and perform as he did? He obviously does not know how to treat people. Of course if you like to be cussed and yelled at by someone you have paid a service for then this is the place for you. Again, Do NOT Consider Staying at this "junk" "crazy" motel.

Quiet family Motel accross from Pier a Very nice place to stay near beach and the cute stores of old Lewes DE. I keep coming back, I 'd rather stay there than Rohoboth' s busy headache zone. Good value in busy season.

I spent 3 nights at the Vesuvio Motel and could not have been any more pleased. The room was large, clean and well maintained. I checked in when the owner was away and he left the room key in an envelope taped to the office door. I spend many weekends on the road, staying at mostly national chain hotels/motels, but this motel ranks right up there. John is the owner and is always there for his guests. I am returning to the area the end of July and have already booked my room. A friend recommended the motel and I was more than pleased. Second street, which is the restaurant and shopping district is only one street away, so you can walk and leave your car in the spacious parking lot.

We just returned from Lewes, DE where we spent 3 nights at the Vesuvio Motel. We were looking for a reasonably price ($75-$145 depending on season and day of the week) when our son's beach house was full. The Vesuvio was perfect because we liked being in town near restaurants, shops, farmer's market, art show and the 4th of July activities. The hosts (John and Karen) provide a comfortable, clean, attractive place on a great location (no worries about parking!) on the Lewes-Rehoboth canal next to some of the historic Victorian homes for which Lewes is famous! The public bay beaches are free and within walking distance and the ocean beach is 5 minutes away in the State Park ($4-$8 for a car full of people). John is always available to help or just to chat! We look forward to our next stay.

This is the BEST motel at any of the Delaware beaches. You truly are treated like family. Mr. Vesuvio is one of the nicest people I have ever met.I am looking forward to yet another weekend in Lewes....I would never stay anywhere else! Thank you Mr. Vesuvio!

The vesuvio is a family run business, and when you stay there it feels as if you join their family. I can't say enough about how wonderfully they treat us. We fish out of the Angler's marina with Captain Ted, one year the weather was wicked and I was unprepaired, needless to say John lent me his personal raincoat and I fished in complete comfort!!! I lOVE the area been here 24 years vesuvio motel has lots of love in my heart so does vesuvio resturant in chester so sad to see it closed when i go past once a year

My daughter and I have stayed here and it is the only place in Lewes we will stay. We look forward to our yearly visit with the wonderful and friendly owners and can't wait for our visit this month-08/09. In our hearts they have become family. They try, and succeed, to make their motel very welcoming to all who stay with them. To stay at the Vesuvio Motel only adds to our visit. As far as the price goes, I can not remember from year to year what the rates are, but I know I have never been displeased with the price. I am close to the beach, the shops, and a price can not be put on how friendly and caring the owners are.

My family and I stayed in the family-owned and oriented motel a couple years ago and have never forgotten the experience. The owners are very kind and helpful...like family. The location is great, with access to all you would want to do and see in Lewes. While we often camp, when we are looking for accomodations in Lewes again, we will choose Vesuvio!

We have stayed there twice and both times the rooms are very clean, the owners are very nice and helpful. The location is just a plus it is within walking distance of everything that Lewes has to offer. I would stay there any time.
