Outer Banks Motel, Buxton

I have been to the outer banks every year for 42 years, and plan on going every year. the rooms are perfect and are right on the beach. The people ate so friendly and accomodating. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying there.

Went to stay b/c my boyfriend LOVES to fish. But next time we may just try the Comfort Inn. What happened was: First we were told the total was going to be 160 (not including tax). Got down there and was told we owed 226 (with tax). Oh the price was CHANGING that weekend. Got to the cottage and there was hair all over the bathtub and toilet. The dishes were dirty looking. There was no telephone and the "cable" tv didn't have half the channels available. I don't understand how, it was suddenlink! It's like some channels weren't programmed in the tv. We weren't told up front but we had to wash all the dishes before leaving (they would NOT supply the dish detergent) And had to take off our own trash or we would be charged for cleaning fee. And they only give you ONE roll of toilet paper (that transparent kind) and ONE bar of soap. No shampoo or conditioner. American Pickers would have had interest in the decor for sure. Light above the bed also fell off the wall on our head while in bed. And the back porch light didn't work. The blankets (the fuzzy kind) reeked of smoke (it was "non-smoking" room) had all sorts of stains on it.

I had been going every year for 18 years and would love to go again, but my husband passed away three years ago and have only been there once since then. I do want to go again but finances have kept me away and it makes me so sad. What a wonderful place, and all the people at the Outer Banks Motel are just like family to me, have always been treated very well.

My wife and I came to the outer banks for the first time on our honeymoon. The Outer Banks Motel was perfect for any type of privacy or interaction with the people and places around us. Everyone was so nice and laid back. It was the most relaxed my wife said she has ever seen me. The hotel itself is right on the water, and the staff was very nice and helpful with any questions that we had. Our room was very comfortable and the full kitchen was great, (even though we ended up eating at as many of the fine seafood resturaunts that surrounded us as we could). We alredy made reservations for next year!!

We were told by other reviewers that this was a great hotel/motel to stay at. The accomodations were limited to just one washer/dryer for the entire complex, the fully equiped kitchen was NOT!! The room was not cleaned, which we were told by the manager that they have excellent cleaning people on staff. The walls to the rooms are extremely thin and we heard all of what went on either side of our room. Plus the manager booked us telling me the room rate included a $100 refunded security deposit, and then I had to find out at check out this was lie. The manager asked why we didn't stay down the street at the Comfort Inn if it was less expensive and she was extremely rude. She said she has been running the motel for 30 years, well I think she has had her rein of power one too many. My rating is a thumbs down for this place. But I have to say the pool was nice and it is close to the beach.
