Hotel Escalante, Naples

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Escalante 4 times over the past year. Each time there was something wrong with our room. The first visit the shower didn't work. The second visit the hot tub didn't work. On our third visit the HVAC didn't work. And since we had not yet learned our lesson, we returned for a fourth visit. The shower didn't work. they tried to fix it on the second day, but couldn't ,and we spent a second night without a shower. On checkout, no apology, no refund, no nothing. We'll never go back. They just don't care, and put no money into the upkeep of their facilities. There's ALWAYS something wrong. I just read a review from 2005 where the shower didn't work...apparently an ongoing problem...but for years ? BEWARE !!!!

It was gorgeous! I had a wonderful time here. First class elegance, and a feel like you're in a villa. The gardens are beautiful, the pool lovely, and my traditional room was perfection. I loved the huge bed, the sheets were like butter. The shower was extraordinary; it's Molton Brown all the way for me when I get my new house! This was a wonderful 3 day weekend. Highly recommended; and I will be going back.

Perfect place to relax and leave everything behind. Close to restaurants and the beach.

My husband and I were scheduled to stay at Escalante for 3 nights in May '05. When we woke up on the first morning there was NO hot water. We called the front desk and they indicated they were having problems getting hot water to that part of the hotel. My husband asked if we could be guaranteed hot water by the following morning and the answer was 'no.' The staff acted surprised that this answer was not acceptable. We packed our bags and went to the Ritz for the rest of our stay. And no, Escalante did not offer us any compensation on the room for the one night we were there.
