Surfside On the Lake, Lake George

We really enjoyed the view from the Junior suite however it is mid october and the heat was not working...the first night we figured we checked in late and were very tired from the drive...the second night we returned from dinner late and waited, and waited and waited but the heating system was only blowing out cold air. after calling the front desk, we were informed that there was no one available to assist us. we checked out the next day with no compensation...we will try another hotel/motel next time.

For anyone whos been there, I'm going soon and I was wondering, are there washers and dryers available for guest to use? thanks

We didn't believe it either until my son and I stepped in it...And to make matters worse the OWNER didn't care...I had to ask for my money back for breakfast. My son got the cat poop on his shoes, shorts and shirt and I got it on my leg when it flipped up on my leg... We were staying with another family, who's daughter was allergic to cats and began sneezing. Obviously this isn't an isolated incident as there is enough cat dander to cause an allergic reaction. When I confronted the owner he said - "his staff isn't trained to be concerned about customers and that if I wanted to be treated better that I should go to a hotel where they actually care about customers..." Don't even think about going here...the staff is clueless, the dining room disgusting and the owner only cares about taking your money...not providing any type of service... Oh...and when I threatened to call the health dept (which I did) the owner said - go ahead...I don't care... Again...There are so many better places to experience Lake George...stay away from the Surfside at all costs...believe me you will be glad you did...

I must admit that I was quite disillusioned after reading the reviews about Surfside, but when I arrived, it was very nice. The room (suite) did have 2 queens in the same room (a little tight) and 2 twins in another room, as expected. The bathroom was surprisingly clean. The only thing that was a turn off was the kitchenette, very dirty and old, but functional. Good thing I brought cleaning supplies. Staff was very helpful in making reservations for dinner and changing the sheets. The breakfast at the Hamilton (the hotel's own restaurant) is not good, so go elsewhere for breakfast. The pool was clean and well heated, my 1 year old enjoyed it very much. The fireworks were spectacular and great view from the beach. The parking is tight, but manageable. Altogether, I would recommend this hotel, especially their packages that included the meals because food in Lake George is very very expensive.

My husband & I took our children here whhen they were6&8 and thru their teen years with their freinds. We now bring our granddaughter. We have stayed at other hotels/motels on Lake George, however we always go back to Surfside.

What i liked about this place is the kids can enjoy it because of the location on the strip where all of the arcades and beaches are.

My family and I just came back from a 3 night stay. We had a pool side cabin for two adults and two children 6 and 4. CONS - It was a VERY small room. It was clean, but needed some TLC. The maid service never cleaned our room before 3:00 pm. We had other family members stay in a master suite. Read the print - there are NOT seperate rooms. There were two queen beds in a loft type area - two couples had to sleep right next to each other! The light show looked like a couple of space age chandliers from a David Bowie concert with no sound. Yes, of course they were RIGHT OUTSIDE of my room! Yes, there is internet access, but you have to pay $10.00 per day! The buildings are made very thin. You here everything at night. PROS - amazing views of the lake. Pool was clean and heated. Beach was perfect for small children - seemed to be about 2 feet deep even at 15 feet out. This place is VERY close to the village and all of the attractions. If you dont mind having a room that you will ONLY sleep in - it's fine. I just dont know what I would of done if the weather was bad enough to keep us in.

Don't even give this place a second look!! We reserved this motel in good faith because the manager we spoke with said it could easily sleep our whole family of 5 in a beachfront cabin. We discovered that the beach front cabin meant walking down a set of delapitated stairs to a cabin that sits on top of a mound of gravel. It smelled of cigarettes and mildew. The place was so small we could not even all stand inside of it. No closets, a discusting bathroom and right outside our window the beach attendant was doing something very strange in the little storage shack. My daughters were appalled! On top of it all we could not get a refund on our deposit. Thank god that our Mastercard company took care of it through the dispute process. STAY AWAY!!!!

it was pretty nice, that best place that we have stayed at so far. The only bad thing was that the cielings were too thin. The people above us had small children and they were quite early in the morning. Also, my parents bed was extremely unconfortable. Some good things were we had a beautiful lake view, clean rooms, nice pool, nice lake area. Was very close to the town. I would recommend this place.

I like the place,but it is so strssful when you can't sleep at night because of the noice,made by drunk boys and girls.You have to do something about this. Anyway, the motel is situated in the center which facilitize my night walk in the village I had a nice stay with U last month
