The picture above isn't the Pantall Hotel! The Pantall is a tall, elegant building nestled right downtime, it is the nicest place in Punxsy, an older hotel but well maintained. The staff is very pleasant and helpful and able to hand the tourist crowds during February. They moved their restaurant to the top floor, supposedly due to remodeling - but I haven't seen any change in the last 6 months (oh, I'm there frequently). The upper floor dining area gives a beautiful view year around, it is clean and well-maintained. The young girls serving on Sunday morning are just that - young. They are pleasant and friendly but forget things and spill water, coffee, etc everytime I've been there. I find myself wondering why this wonderful old establishment wouldn't train these ladies on simple things like getting a beverage to the table without spilling it and educate them on dressing a bit more properly. Kudos to the Pantall, I'm there frequently when visiting friends and always enjoy dinner and/or brunch.

Feels like home away from home

This is a wonderful old hotel, still quirky like the best ones are. When I stay here I feel like I've stepped into the movie, "Groundhog Day." The hotel is definitely an essential part of the whole Groundhog Day experience. I love that it's right in the center of town, borders the town park & is less than a block from Punxsutawney Phil's picture window. I've stayed at 4 other places nearby & this is the only one I've liked enough to come back to. The other great part is the very friendly & helpful staff. Now that I've stayed here a few times they recognize me on sight & have made a point to know my name & my favorite room. They also handle the Groundhog Day rush very well.

Would never stay there again

This hotel is not handicap friendly at all. They only have one handicap parking spot in front of the hotel but if you park there after 10:00 pm you will get a ticket and there are no other handicap parking spaces available. The only handicap entrance is through the bar and not very accessible and the front desk encouraged me not to use it when I asked about it. You have to go up about 4 or 5 step to get in the front door with the door opening outward which makes it very awkward to bring luggage into the hotel and the staff was not very helpful when they saw me struggling to get in the door. When we got to our room we could hardly get the luggage in because the door hit the bed in the room and the decor was awful - wall paper peeling off the walls, the lampshades bent and falling apart and the beds were not comfortable at all. All in all I was very disappointed with this hotel and did not like the fact that they charged my credit card $100 for a two day stay just in case I made a call, used the internet, etc. (this was in addition to the cost of the hotel that was charged to my account).
