Let me tell you something. I've been going to BML for 46 years. The place is old, yes. Does it need some upgrades? Yes. However, if you are complaining about it, there's a reason. I've seen the kind of people who complain about the staff here, and believe me, you get what you deserve. The doors are locked after 10pm because of all the drunken 20 year olds who try to stay 20 to a room. The staff does not put up with crap. If you act like an ass you're treated like one. Furthermore, the door is not locked from the inside, idiot. Personally, I'm glad this place is getting bad reviews, that means there will be less of you by the pool. You want shampoo and room service? You don't go to a freaking Motor Lodge. Please, do the rest of us a favor and stay home in NY.

After all the horrible reviews I read about this place, I was worried what we would find when we got there. Our group was about 20 and we were there to attend a family wedding. The hotel is old and definitely needs a tune up, but it was clean, a/c worked well on our hot weekend, we encountered no plumbing problems, and the staff, if not warm and fuzzy, was at least cordial and helpful with directions when we asked. My son even made an impromptu trip into NYC because the train was right there. This was our first visit to Belmar, but I think we may come back again.

So so so dirty. the blankets smelled like Fred Flintstones ass.

I have no idea where to begin with this place - the cement walls, the stale smell of smoke, the old ash trays in the jailcell-like hallways, the unfriendly staff, the mold growing on the walls....It's unbelievable they can even charge money for this place! And a good deal of money that being said. I am a super low-maintenance person and the only way I could stomach this place was by getting completely wasted! My girlfriends and I even slept in pants and used our clothes as blankets so we didn't have to touch the cigarette burned, nasty comforters and sheets. We couldn't bear to even have skin touch the floor! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stay away! I wish I had read a review before I agreed to that utter nightmare!

This place was downright awful. Paid a decent amount of $185 and upon check in realized the staff was very rude. Not friendly. They don't even provide shampoo. You have to buy it out of a vending machine. Tub was clogged and the place is just run down. They think they are a prison and keep someone outside to check you in after 10 pm. If you are going down the beach for night life, having a curfew of 10 is unreasonable. Staff was rude about letting guests in instead of explaining to us the policy. Were badgered and treated like inmates, not guests. Had two double beds but we were given such a hard time about paying for two other people to stay with us. Terrible customer service and act like they are doing us a favor and we need to bow down to them. Would never go back.

The staff here were beyond rude. They were no help at all when asking questions regarding our booking. We were given a room completely different than we reserved a month earlier. When we asked the front desk they told us it was too bad and we could leave and go somewhere else. It would have been nice if they informed us of this before our 2 hour trek down there. Awful, Awful, Awful people. Avoid at all cost.

This hotel does not allow visitors in the hotel after 10pm. Stop and think about that for a moment. Outrageous - it's one thing if they are trying to prevent 10 ppl in one room. The place is on lock-down!

Only $60 for a Friday night. CLEAN and furniture mostly newly updated...clean bathroom, could hear train but didn't keep us up at night. Walking distance to bars and restaurants..GREAT experience, would go back.,

We had no problems upon check-in. Room was very clean - a/c the best we have experienced in a while. Bathroom was clean and in order. Everything worked very well. Personnel was fine - absolutely no problems. We are a couple in our 30s/40s, and traveled without children. Arrived back at 1:30 am Saturday night - and there were absolutely no issues. Riverview Pavillion is on the other side of the parking lot - 1 minute away. Location is perfect. Next to train, close to town restaurants, across street from fishing docks.

My fiance and I have stood in this hotel a few times but NEVER Again! We checked in early my fiance payed for the room with cash and the room was reserved with my credit card. We order dinner in then went out, when we returned to the hotel the lady (who checked us in) wouldn't let my fiance in because his name was not on the list. The front door was locked and she was standing outside (lets not mention what a fire hazard that is for those already in the hotel). We expalined we checked in it was only us staying in the room, we even told her what we had for dinner so she could check the garbage, Her replay "you can come in but your boyfriend can't." I didn't know what to do so I called the cops. Well they weren't much help either they said this is there property. We had no choice the cops had to escort us in to get our stuff and we slept in the car. And no we were not disorderly or drunk, this hotel is run like a prison. What did the lady expect me to go to sleep in the room and leave my fiance, NO WAY! Honestly the worst experience of our life! And after all that the hotel had the nerve to try charging my credit card, thankfully I put a stop payment on it.
