There Must be Something Better Than This

Disappointing. If we had paid as much to stay in, for example, a Hyatt Regency, we would have demanded another room or an extremely generous discount.
We stayed in the "Bruce Price Room."
Mattress is sunken in the middle. Antique furniture sorely needs restoration. No hook on the back of the bathroom door. Heater sounds like a jackhammer.
Antique bathtub appears filthy. It is clean, but extremely worn. Tub fixtures are corroded, leaving a green stain on the tub. Brass fittings on wooden toilet seat are likewise green. Whether clean or not, it is unsightly. Hot water is slow to come to the sink and tub.
The proprietor stated that since Cleftstone is not the same as a Hyatt or Hilton, they dont follow the same procedures. Apparently. Housekeeping didnt remove used drinking glasses from our room. We could have mentioned it to someone, but were curious to see if the glasses would ever be removed. They remained in the room all three days of our stay.
We have traveled considerably for many years, domestic and foreign. We do not stay in inexpensive hotels, and we do not appreciate being over-charged for mediocre accommodations. We will never return to Cleftstone.
