Heron Island Resort, Bracewell

If you are looking for a Romantic get away look else where. While the location is first class, the level of service is not up to standard for a 4 star hotel; Rooms un-clean, Restaurant staff unfriendly, level of service average. Most of the staff on the island are seasonal backpackers who seemed to have a greater emphasis on personal fun rather than providing professional level of service to guests. For a better experience head over to Vanuatu, it may not have the Great Barrier Reef - but at least there�s Hide-away Island!

My husband and I went to Heron Island resort for a week and didn't want to leave! We stayed in a "turle room" which is the cheapest, but since the whole resort has been renovated recently, the room was huge with a sitting area, balcony and large bathroom. The diving is spectular and we were also there during nesting season for turtles (November) so we were able to watch the turtles coming up on the beach at night to lay their eggs. So unique! From the morning yoga clases, to the spa, to the guided nature walks, it is so well organized and run. There's little night-life there to speak of, but that's all part of the relaxed, nature-focused atmosphere. I'd go back any day.
