Nothing New for New Otani
I booked this hotel via Expedia and read all the reviews before booking. However, my stay (May 27-May 28, 2005) was definitely disappointing. Nothing like what most positive review said. I stayed on the 16th floor, the hotel's exterior is very nice and it's got a nice Lobby/Garden/Elevator. However, the room condition is worst than a 2 star hotel or even Inns or motel. The room that I stayed in is definitely not well kept. As soon as I walked into the room, I can tell there is probably no one stayed in this room for months. There are dusts everywhere in the room and there are dark spots on the ceiling. The king size bed was too soft and it felt like a 100 years old bed. There were 4 very flat pillows on the bed, we then requested more pillows and which took them more than 30 minutes to send them to our room. The room carpet is old and not really clean, there are dusts around the window area. The worst part was the bathroom. The corner of the bathroom door was rusted (Why would they fix it before having their hotel guests arrive?) The bathroom tiles have dirty dark colored outlines (its probably mildew). I have stayed in motels or Holiday Inns in LA before which they tend to be a lot cheaper and most importantly - cleaner than this New Otani hotel. Nothing is new about it. Also, parking is expensive, $15/car/day self parking. I am very upset for the $$ I spent staying in this not well kept hotel. From this experience, I will never go back to this hotel ever again.
Well, the only upside for this hotel is the location. Its right next to the little Tokyo, its convenient to grab any Japanese food.
