Petley's Inn, Lamu

Lamu was the last destiny to my holidays and i visited Petleys inn hotel. the air condition, rooftop bar overlooking the sea, refreshing breeze from the balcony of the rooms. i slept in one room called philip and its real a holiday and a half. the receptionist, waiters and all the staff were so friendly to me.

On our arrival the hotel tour guide masha was very welcoming,when we arrival at the hotel we were received in a way we felt like home with cocktail juice and a cold towel to clean our face because it was very hot.Well i was looking forward to this holiday for ages and must say i was not disappointed. We found the hotel excellent. I realise this is only our opinion and others may think different, but i would go back at a drop of a hat given the chance. The rooms were fresh and clean, the staff couldn't do enough for you, the beds were very comfortable i could not of asked for better. The food was varied and we always found there was something we liked (if you like seafood then you have to go to lamu palace restaurant) but if there isn't anything you fancy the staff would find you something else, there was also the snack bar by the pool that would serve you samosa,spring rolls and chips etc if you wanted something basic. We met some lovely people while we were there and had a right laugh with them. We have even stayed in contact with a couple of the staff (they were so lovely) The pool was great,We found the beach boy's not to much trouble, some of them just come along for the walk and just make it clear to the others that you do not want to buy anything. well i found them fascinating. Any one going to petley's i hope they enjoy it as much as we did and thanks to everyone that made ours so special. management and staff. I recommend this hotel for honeymooners,singles and tourist in lamu you will never feel alone.

The upstairs bar area was the biggest plus of this hotel. There was a constant breeze up there that was lovely especially due to the constant electrical outages where the AC in the rooms was not functioning. The pool was also refreshing. Beds were comfortable. The toilet was not functioning properly when we first arrived and we were shocked to find that the hotel attempted to charge us to fix it when we were checking out. The cost of the hotel for us at that time was close to $300 dollars per night which I felt was too expensive for the accomodations. The staff was very friendly and accomodating.
