Would not stay here again
By ,
This is without doubt the worst '5-star' hotel that I have ever stayed in. The room is shabby, dirty, smelly. I have stayed in much better 3* hotels. The rooms are also very noisy from street noise and mosques. This hotel needs an overhaul. Location is OK

Fantastic place
By ,
I liked this place a lot, especially after spending one night in 3.5 star hotel. Who had this experience in Cairo will understand the difference. It was like getting back from the jungle to civilized world. Excellent food, very friendly and helpful service, nice cozy atmosphere. Fantastic view on River Nile at night. Very convenient location - only 15 minutes walk to Egyptian Museum. The only disappointment was the internet charge - pretty expensive.

Do not trust the hotel staff
By ,
In spite of having a confirmed booking with me, the hotel staff didnot honour my voucher, made us sit for 3 hours from 8 pm to 11 pm and then refused to give any room. We were left hi n dry at midnight when no rooms were available at any other hotel nearby. We two single ladies in a strange city were told that the booking done thru Galiver Travels on internet is not valid. Dont ever trust this hotel as they overbook n leave people who check in late on their own

Find another hotel in Cairo!
By ,
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The location of this hotel is great - convenient for visiting museum, and Midan Tahrir. The view of Nile from the hotel is great. We stayed in Cleopatra tower which is old and unkempt. Our rooms were filthy - with food on the floor and water and grime stains on the carpet. The hotel corridors compared well with a rundown cheap motel with cigarette butts thrown around. Water glasses in the room were not even washed. And the staff careless about either the cleanliness or our displeasure. Elevators were not working as we got stuck in the elevators three times in three days. And when complained, reception staff just grinned. You will be better off finding another hotel in Cairo!

Clean rooms, very accommodating staff, good hotel security, central location, and multiple restaurants with excellent food available within the hotel. Taxi service available on the premises.

great hotel,great location
By ,
We stayed six nights at this hotel. The pool is the best thing about this hotel. The casino is so small you could barely fit 25 people in there.Service is great.Nice shops with great prices.Dollar really goes far in Egypt.KFC is around 2 blocks from there along withn a internet cafe across the street from the KFC.Stay away from anything thats buffet.Get a room facing the Nile River. The higher the better.

grossly filthy - beware
By ,
For a hotel reported to be 5 star - our entire party must have been given rooms waiting to be remodeled...and waiting to be cleaned. We had tons of short hairs in our bathtub, sink and floor of our room. There was so much grime on the exterior of the tub I could have written 'wash me' but I was afraid to touch it. The bedspreads were grimely and the carpet so filthy that new white socks were blackened within minutes of being put on. Another women found several banana peels - on the desk and night stand, and food crumbs - not only on, but in her bed (sheets). There were other tales of woe but the worst was from my in-laws that had a used condom on the bathroom floor. I guess those of us on the Friendly Planet/Wings Tour didn't rate a room that was cleaned....

Would stay here again!
By ,
Stayed here in April/May 06. Rooms are very spacious and clean and beds extremely comfortable. All the staff are friendly and very efficient. The views from the hotel across the Nile and around the city are wonderful. It is in a good location only a 15 minute walk from the Egyptian Museum. The hotel has a lovely large pool with good views too. There is a good selection of different foods available at breakfast and many different restaurants to chose from to dine at. We would definitely stay here again if we are stopping in Cairo in the future.

Amazing Hotel in a city that never sleep
By ,
The hotel location is the best. I really liked it. It's directly on the nile and the best rooms are in the higher floors. The hotel is clean and the service is fine. The Egyptians are the unique gift of Egypt. Don't miss to know them deeply. I liked Sapporo restaurant the most in the hotel.

Hotel review and tips on staying there
By ,
At the Airport in Cairo Cairo Airport Shuttle Company when u clear baggage claim and enter the arrivals hall. A trip to the Cairo Sheraton will cost 60 Egyptian pounds plus 6 Egyptian pounds tax = 66EP. This is NOT per person, its for the van and driver so its really cheap (you will find that transport is very cheap when u explore Cairo). At the Cairo Sheraton Food: If breakfast isnt included in you room rate, youll be advised to have breakfast at either Tea Garden or Arrous El Nile (restaurants within the hotel) these buffet breakfasts are overpriced so its better and cheaper to grab coffee and pastries at Caf Complet (another restaurant in the hotel) on the ground floor of the Nefertiti Tower. The food at the Al Adin restaurant is overpriced and you get tiny portions. Food at La Mamma isnt bad, but youd probably enjoy take-out more. Laundry: Room service laundry is overpriced. There is another laundry service at the ground floor entrance in the Nefertiti Tower (at the entrance where Caf Complet is). They do the hotel laundry anyway, but the prices are a third of what room service will charge. Minibar: Dont bother with the minibar - a 500ml bottle of water costs 6EP and a can of soda will cost the same. If you walk down the road, on the way to the Four Seasons First Mall, theres a side road with two small shops selling drinks, chips, etc. A 1.5 litre bottle of water over there will cost you 2EP and a can of soda will cost 1.75EP. These shops are one of the few places that will sell Mountain Dew and Crme Soda funnily enough - very few places in Egypt have heard of Mountain Dew and Crme Soda (unfortunately, the crme soda just aint the same as it is in SA, it tastes very vanilla). There are also more little shops close to McDonalds or Noura Bazaar with the same prices. Concierge: Very helpful, but if we wanted to tour Cairo then they wouldve directed us to the travel agency within the hotel where the tours were very expensive do NOT use the travel agency. If you want a tour guide, ask the Cairo Airport Shuttle Company to set you up with one. Beauty salon: Dont bother going there overpriced and extremely poor quality of service. Restaurants and shops Four Seasons First Mall: It is down the road from the Sheraton, about 10-15 minutes walking distance (a taxi there will cost 10EP). You will be able to find shops selling genuine Nike shoes and clothing, Guess accessories and high-end watches at Time Trade at this mall (most other malls have a lot of fake products). McDonalds: Ask the doorman at the ground floor entrance of the Nefertiti Tower (outside caf complet) to direct you to McDonalds, its on the same road as the Faisal Islamic Bank of Cairo (back road, not the front one) and its a 10-15 minute walk. Noura bazaar: Its on the same road as the Faisal Islamic Bank of Cairo (front road, not the back one) and its a 5-10 minute walk. This shop sells perfumes and papyrus at reasonable prices, but the guy there tends to be a bit pushy. KFC and Pizza Hut: Steps away from the Four Seasons First Mall. Theres also another Pizza Hut near the McDonalds. Radioshack: Youll pass this electronics shops while walking to the Four Seasons First Mall. Prices arent too bad although I never actually bought anything there. Other shopping centres Youll have to take a taxi to Arkadia Mall, Ramses Hilton and Khan el Khalili.
