Description

The Hotel Zum Storchen is so beautifully maintained as a first-class hotel that at first glance it is difficult to conceive it has been in operation for over six centuries. Located in the heart of the old town, near the financial district and just two minutes from the famous "Bahnhofstrasse," the Zum Storchen offers the charm and warmth of a quality hotel. Wine and dine in the authentic guildhouse atmosphere of the La Rotisserie restaurant. In summer, enjoy a meal on the unique terrace overlooking the river.

I am a regular guest...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/29/08
For the last twenty years, whenever I was in Zürich, I've stayed at the 'Storchen'. The service is excellent and the rooms, although quite small, are comfortable and as clean as anyone could want. There is always a fresh rose in the tiny bathrooom and the quests are invariably received with a fruitbasket en some Swiss chocolates. The breakfast, included in the room price, is excellent with several kinds of bread and fresh rolls, meats, smoked salmon, jams and egges prepared anyway you like them. I especially enjoy the location on the river Limmat and being close close to all the wonderful shops on and near the Bahnhofsrasse. One sunny days one can walk to the lake and watch the boats and the waterbirds. It is also possible to take a one hour boattrip from the hotel to the lake and back. The restaurant at the 'Stprchen' is quite good (but rather expensive) and there are plenty of other dining possibilities nearby. I can't think of another hotel (and I have given them all a good lookover during my staus) in Zürich where I would spend my time...

Excellent central location but small rooms
By Wally, 3/22/04
I continue to return to this hotel every few years. Storchen's guest rooms are all tiny, but the location is right on the river in a very quiet cobblestoned area of small shops and residences called the "Old City." In warm weather breakfast is served outside on the veranda overhanging the river where swans will gather for some bread crumbs. The inside restaurant ajoining this area is upscale with good food. Bahnhofstrasse and Paradelplaz which are the main banking and shopping arears in Zurich, are just a short and very pleasant five minute walk up the winding cobblestoned alleys and streets. The consierge is quite helpful and knowledgable. Easiest and fastest way to get there from ZRH airport is to get the train on the bottom level of the airport taking you into the main Zurich station (Bahnhof-Main) and then take a cab the remaining mile. You'll love the location!
