great location
By ,
i stayed in for 2 months in an extended stay apartment which was located in a renovated 17th century canal house. you actually got a key to the front door of the building which faces a canal on the street behind the hotel. but you can access the lobby throught the back of the building. the apartment had a kitchenette, washer/dryer, separate bedroom, 2 t.v's, stereo. i would avoid staying in these apartments in late spring and during the summer. there is no a/c..only a fan. and it gets hot in the apartment. and if you sleep with windows open the misquitos will eat you alive. other then that, awesome hotel and great location. right in the middle of everything

Top of the Line!

Easy check-in & out. Friendly staff, knowledgeable. Great large rooms, central location to transportation, reknown sites. Dislike - additional charge for wifi, but the business center PC's are free for the 1st 10 minutes - long enuf to send an e-postcard.

Nice Hotel
By ,
I stayed for 2 nights at this hotel recently, with my daughter. One problem I had that I often have in Europe is that I need two beds - my daughter is an adult. Technically they have two beds - a double or queen size headboard and coverlet, but two twins side by side underneath it. So you can't really pull the twins apart, because then the beds extend out past the headboard. Two beds should mean two beds in every way. Other than that, the hotel was nice. The room large, the plumbing perfection, the hotel staff very helpful, the location ideal.

A nice treat

The location is perfect. It's a large hotel and the service is great. If you can catch a special rate, I would reccommend staying here. Shop for off season rates.

Anniversary treat
By ,
Date of travel Sat 14th Jan - Mon 16th Jan 2006. As as a regular to Amsterdam we decided to treat ourselves for our wedding anniversary to a junior suite at the Krasnapolsky. We were enticed by the free VIP gift, choice of daily newspapers etc. On arrival the Hotel had no record of our reservation (booked back in Nov 2005). Just as well we had printed out the confirmation. They then queried the price in front of other guests. We were then asked to go and sit down for a while why they tried to sort this out. The receptionist just carried on checking people in. Eventually my husband went back to check in to find out what was happeneing. A room was given on the 4th floor. Lovely room - terrible smell on the landings almost a sewerage smell. No gift, table had cup and sticky glass stains for a 5 star hotel cleanliness and service were leaving something to be desired. Next a man just barged into the room. He said he needed to give us a letter and a gift but had neither with him. Eventually several hours later a letter was posted under the door. Letter stated to use the enclosed voucher for a free drink - guess what no voucher enclosed. It goes on and on all I can say is I have stayed in many hotels in Amsterdam and this probably had the poorest service and least clean rooms. Would recommend a suite at the Swissotel. Also got charged for breakfasts I didn't have. Won't be going back - very disappointed. we did go to Reception to explain our dis satisfaction. the gentleman apolgised profusely and promised to send VIP gift (which shouls have been in room on arrival) it never turned up. Think carefully before booking this hotel - very expensive little or no service.
