Amsterdam American Hotel, Amsterdam

The American Hotel in Amsterdam has it all, great location just off the Leidseplein with a thirties chic look about it. The main restaurant is worth a visit just for its ambience alone. One of my favourite hotels in Europe with a relaxed friendly atmosphere, typical of Amsterdam.

i loved everything. i hated nothing. service was perfect. rooms were relaxing. i am coming this summer.

Best thing about this hotel is location. Plus if you ever get lost in Amsterdam, everyone knows where to point you so that you can get back. Small rooms, but nice and cozy. Great value. An easy choice for your next visit.

Everything was perfect, they had an answer for every question we could ask as tourist, and they even gave us a guided tour of some of the hot spots.. I would recommend this Hotel to everybody that goes to Amsterdam.

The Crowne Plaza American Hotel exuded relaxation and luxury from the beginning to the end of out holiday. As soon as we arrived, we felt the fantastic ambiance at reception, created by the amazing modern art works on display. The tastfully decorated rooms were comfortable, with the King size bed; the soft, egptian cotton bedding and variety of pillows to suit each individuals preference. Everything in the rooms, right down to the complimentary toilettries, has been designed for your maximum comfort and pleasure. The Fitness Centre and Sauna were also great for keeping yourself trim and in shape after enjoying the delicious food from the restaurant. Ideally situated in a central location, we were able to reach entertainment in a matter of minutes, be it a stroll in the close by Vondel Park, a drink in one of the hotels cafes or bars, or a night out on the town in one of the cities many buzzing clubs. Everything was just a short walk away. The staff at the hotel were both friendly and professional. This is certainly a place we will return to as it is the perfect environment for relaxation and a well earned rest.

A five-star hotel should shine, make you feel warm and happy about spending your money. Not so with this one, or maybe I was just expecting too much. Fairly spartan furnishings, below average service, and the beginnings of a major remodeling made this less than an ideal site for those seeking R&R. And the Spa/Fitness Center?? Forget it, stay at Hampton Inn. Better choice is the Marriot directly across the street, on the "sane" side of town.
