When in Rome
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/23/06
In a full week at the hotel - staff refused to clean our room once and had to continually be asked for supplies (toilet paper), the shower drain kept backing up, and bags of dirty laundry were always left outside our door. Not a nice place to honeymoon. Other than an exorbiant price, non-existant service and crotchety staff, the hotel was conveniently located for sight-seeing.

The worse hotel ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/30/06
Do not book at this hotel or you will be extremely disappointed. The hotel claims it is a 5 star but is only worthy of a one star. It is dirty, outdated and in need of a significant rehab. The service was horrible - everything from requesting additional towels, to trying to check in and check out. There are no redeeming qualities about this hotel except for the location. But for the price of this hotel, there are many others that are much less expensive that are much newer, cleaner and nicer.

At the very heart of the city!
By Krebs, 9/13/05
We had only one day to spend in Rome and wanted to see it all: the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Colloseum, the Vatican... and lots and lots of shopping of course. For this, the Grand Hotel Plaza is just perfect. Besides the fact that the major sites are very near, this hotel is surrounded by the most amazing Italian shops (Gucci, Prada, AJ, you name it) - very convenient for a shopping spree. The room size is slightly above average, nice high ornamented ceilings and comfortable queen size bed. A definite highlight is the ***** buffet breakfast and the doppio espresso, of course. Definitely very lush, although not entirely unexpensive.

What A Hotel !!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/4/06
Well, I first stayed at the Plaza as a kid in 1969 when my parents took us on a vacation to Rome, and it was great. 35 years later I brought my own family back to the Plaza for a vacation and it could not have been any better !! The staff was very helpful with Taxi's, tours, directions and amenities. The Hotel is wonderful in all aspects and you can't beat the location, walking distance to the Collusiem, St. Peters and shopping. I will return as soon as the next opportunity arises!!

THE PITS
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/19/10
THIS IS NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL!! We have stayed at this Hotel in the past (7 years ago) it was lovely. It has deteriorated- nothing has been kept up. We were traveling with our adult children, so we booked three rooms - one double and two single. Our double room was 9x11 the air conditioner did not work you could not open the windows because the shutters were broken. The wall in the bathroom was cracked. My son's room had to be changed the water was leaking from the light ficture in the bathroom and the airconditioner was not working. I only got maid service ONCE in the three days. When I complained, they sent up clean towels, but I never did see the maid. The breakfest buffett was just one type of coffee and pasteries. My Son had to complain to get internet service - he finally got it on the last day. The STAFF was not nice. It's an OLD unkept run down Hotel. Located in the perfect spot within walking distance of everthing. I don't know who/or how they rate Hotels but this is maybe a 2 star. Next time they rate this Hotel tell them to check out room numbers 414 - 416 - 433. I would never book this Hotel again. I am sure there are plenty of Hotels in the same area. This dump offers nothing.

5 STAR??? Says who?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/14/11
This COULD BE a beautiful hotel---- BUUUTTTTTT.... it is a complete and utter disappointment. Do not buy into the fallacies stated on the website! 1.) Airconditioning- LIE- When I went down to talk to reception about the problem, I was told, "you are not in america, you will not have unnecessarily cold air blowing out of the vents." 2.) Clean--- Bugs on the ceiling does not qualify as clean according to my standards, if they do to you, please consider this a 5 star hotel. PLEASE 3.) Service is impeccable? LIE- Service is lousy. For a company that is in the "service" industry... they are literally failing at the one thing they are supposed to offer, that is service---- and putting a 5 star name on it is beyond my realm of comprehension. Bottom line, I have stayed in better Hostels than this Hotel. Great Location... is all it has to offer. Which is why i chose it, we are in beautiful Rome, and do not intend on spending any time at all in the hotel room. BUT, it would be nice to have a room with a temperature lower than outdoors.... Im just saying.
