Terrible service
I've stayed at this hotel manay times and really enjoyed it; it's now been redecorated and looks lovely, however its service has hugely decreased. It feels like they have gone through a major cost-cutting exercise - little bottles of shampoo and soap, etc replaced with a bottle of shower gel and liquid soap ATTACHED to the wall in a bracket above the sink and shower - very nasty, like a motel! Tea and coffe is reduced to just 2 packets of coffee, 2 packets of decaf and 2 tea-bags with no biscuits. The check-in was confirmed as 1400hrs, but our room wasn't ready on arrival, and there was an empty wine bottle lying on the floor when we did get into our room! They can't swipe a maestro card on check-in for additional costs unless they take �50 deposit off your card and pay this back to you on check-out, I just said I'd pay any additional costs on check out because that sounded like too much bother - they said fine, but when I tried to put two drinks in the bar on the room, the bar man came running after me to say that I didn't have "sufficient credit". They don't have BBC News 24 on the tv service. Overall, lovely decor, good looking hotel spoilt by meanness and over zealous cost-cutting.
