Bayswater Inn, London

The hotel is indicative of London tired ,dirty and too many foreigners.Can you speak English was a phrase we used on a few occaisions with the hotel staff . We must have had the same bed as some of the other reviewers , it smelt ,it sagged, it had dirty covers. The only thing worth mentioning was the location, it really is in a lovely part of London.But for $210 a night AUD it was money badly spent. I have never been to a hotel where the staff openly argue with customers or have been so stingy with breakfast portions.

The room is small but i think most of the rooms in UK is this size. The only thing I couldn't stand for is the staffs who serve the breakfast. I was forced to stay in this hotel because of the virgin vocation packages. Although the location is pretty good but there is a lot of other hotels' location is much better.

The Bayswater location is convenient to the Tube, but aside from that there is little to recommend it. First clue should have been when we overheard a guest asking if she could possibly have another roll of toilet paper. Lucky for us, the two rolls in our bathroom didn't run out until the last day. Toilet paper isn't automatically restocked. Neither are the tiny bars of soap. I noticed one of the two alloted had a funny stain on it and turned it over so it was obvious to whoever cleaned the room, but it was ignored and is probably still there. The shower makes a low-flow shower head look like Niagra Falls. It's difficult to adjust and so little comes out that getting the shampoo rinsed out of your hair is a real project. Each guest is alloted one towel. There's not even a hand towel, it's just the one for everything. If you use the tea, coffee or plastic cups in your room, they are not replaced either. The bed was a nightmare -- in addition to a big dip in the center, it was lumpy. We put the quilt under the sheet to try for a bit more comfort, but it didn't help much. The breakfast was a farce. There were three baskets of "rolls," which were close to inedible. You can get toast, but you have to request it and then you are given three half-slices per person. The "chef" spends most of his time during breakfast at the cut in the wall looking out at the reception area. A young man at a table near us the final day asked if he could please get an order of scrambled eggs, which would have cost him $5. The staff person came back and said the chef said it was too close to the end of the breakfast service to make any more hot food. There are signs everywhere about not leaving money or valuables in your room, but if you want to use the hotel's safe deposit you have to pay $8 a day to do so. The signs are so plentiful that you feel it must be a common occurance. Unfortunately, we had pre-paid for our room so we were stuck. If you want a good deal in England, find a Premier Travel Inn where the rooms are large, beds are decent, you get two towels per person and even the continental breakfasts are good.

Location: very nicely located in a quiet area, near shopping, resturants, underground, busses, and almost all you need. Bathroom: Bathroom was remodeled, and allways very clean. Room: Bed matresses are old. not very comfortable. Windows need good muscles to be opened. Curtains not clean. There is enough lighting and furnature. Breakfast: Very basic: Bread, butter, jam, tea/coffee, juice/water. Staff: Staff appear to be too serious, but helpfull when asked for assistance, directions, or advice. In my opinion, the hotel views its visitors as "customers" and not as "guests". It is more like a boarding school, than a hotel. If I was paying for my stay, I would certainly like to try another hotel. But, if my company chooses this hotel again, I would tolerate staying there again.

Just got back from London, we stayed at the Bayswater Inn for 3 nights... after reading the reviews on this page prior to going we nearly didn't go at all...really glad we took no notice though. We paid roughly �60 per night for our stay and so by London standards we didn't expect the Bayswater Inn to be the Ritz.Our double room was very small but, we went to London to have a good time out and about so other than sleeping in our room and having a shower there this was of little consequence to us. Other than this we really had no complaints at all... the rooms were clean and the staff were friendly and pleasant and the location, considering the cost, was fantastic. We would recommend the Bayswater Inn to people who wish to enjoy all London has to offer, but would not recommend it to snobs who want to stay in their hotel room all day and night.

the hotel was terrible.. no real breakfeast and hair in the beds!!! cold water and mini-bathrooms!!! i can just say: never again in this awful hotel..

My main problem with this hotel was the staff. I stayed there a total of one night and I found the staff very ignorant. The reception staff had repeated arguments among themselves, while customers stood there waiting for service. When returning to the hotel after our night, my "hello" to the night porter was replied with a grunt. We arrived for breakfast in the morning at 9.30. The continental breakfast consisted of toast,rolls,butter, jam,tea,coffee. Breakfast was not supposed to finish till 10 but when we asked for toast the lady said "toast is finished". This answer got a bad reception from other customers as well. The question "Its only 9.30, is there no bread or is the toaster broken?" just got answered with "we are not doing anymore toast". Apart from the staff, the sheets and carpets in the rooms were very old and appeared to be dirty. Also check in time is at 3pm which is far later than most hotels.

Hotel was supposedly renovated but our room had large strips of paper peeling off the walls. Bed covers looked as though they hadn't been washed in months and the room was not very clean. However, the sheets and towels were nice and white. Lock on the bedroom door was broken and the TV didn't work. Continental breakfast was juice, white rolls or toast, tea or coffee. One of the individual small milks had mold growing around the rim.

The location was good: quiet neighborhood, very nice. But the hotel itself was not only plain, but somewhat unkept. At times smelly (especially the toilets) and looked as if no one has bothered to clean it for months. The rooms were alright though.

The biggest problem with the hotel was the horrible room. Not CLEAN, small of course (tend to be that way in London), room was in basement with Major water stains all over walls and ceilings, beds were worn OUT! Front desk could care less about Anything! It took about 2 minutes in the room before searching area for another place to stay(with no luck though) The service in Rest./Pub was good though...(the ONLY thing that was Nice about staying there)Location was also nice...but NOT worth it.
