Decent spot near the main train station
By ,
The Eden Wolff is all about the location if you're planning to take the train in or out of Munich. I was extremely thankful for it after stepping off a smoking car from Nuremberg. I ran straight to the shower -- less than a block away. The room is a decent size, though the entrance was unusual: You have to walk through two doors to get into your room. I'm guessing this helps keep the smoke out, since the hallways are not smoke-free. The windows were huge, but seemed to come off the hinge when opened, and when I did I thought I detected a smell of smoke again, coming from the room below. Lots of smoking in Germany! Gotta get used to it quick, though I hear some laws are going into effect to change that by next year. Another trick was the master power switch. If you don't turn it on, you don't get lights anywhere in the room or bathroom. Took me a bit to figure that one out... Otherwise, the bed was pretty comfy, the place seemed clean and the breakfast was good. It was a somewhat small buffet, but it had everything you could want before walking into the heart of Munich, just about a 15-minute trek.

A Traditional European Gem!
By ,
Before getting to Munich, we spent 5 mights in a Hilton elsewhere in Germany. That hotel, which was chosen by my workplace, was a real disappointment -- it was as un-European as you can get. THEN we got to the Eden-Hotel-Wolff. It is lovely, absolutely 100% European (even using the old-fashioned keys on heavy keychains!). The staff was superb - we asked for extra pillows and they appeared almost right away; we accidentally changed the channel in the middle of a pay movie and someone came to fix it for us right away; I asked about buying a bathmat and the next time I passed the front desk the concierge stopped me to tell me the price. The location is great -- literally across the street from the train station, in a fine area (not at all seedy), and about a three-block walk from the start of the walking area. The rooms are really spacious, the featherbeds were very cozy, the windows open to let the air in; breakfast, which was included, had a great variety of food. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and I plan on recommending it to my workplace as a hotel-of-choice for visitors to Munich. It's simply a wonderful hotel.

Close to Central Station but a bit pricey
By ,
Right across from Central Station. Most staff are helpful and courteous. Rooms are small, but clean. There a many cheaper hotels nearby, though.
