By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/25/11
its the best place in Tamarindo, the view its beautiful and you are right there at the beach, you wont need a taxi to take you to the beach. The food its great and the buffet breakfast the best but you have other options around downtown too, this my favorite place there and i've stayed in other places before but i am definitely going back to Diria!!! by the way i never had a problem with the service and i stayed for 3 nights and it is worth to try it =)

I would NEVER GO BACK.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/24/09
The bathrooms and rooms are too small. We had their best room in their hotel ( Ocean front) but, still it is too small. When i spoke to the manager regarding changing the hotel he told me I can not leave because they will charge me regardless. Also, staff are not so great they bring you wrong food. But, I would recommend yu to stay at Mountain Paradise it was a great hotel with the best staff!!! If you like to stay at the beach try also Bracelone it is very nice hotel.BTW Tamarindo has a beautiful garden as i said earlier rooms are horrible also all the other stuff about the hotel on the internet is not true there is no night life in that hotel.

Terrible Service!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/11/09
Our group had 7 rooms, so my comments are not just based on our experience, but those of others in our group. We stayed for 4 days, refrig. never worked even though we told them daily and they said it would be "fixed right-away", or "they were on their way to fix". Refrig. also didn't work for two other rooms, same experience. TV didn't work for another, same experience. It took 2 days to get shampoo, I finally had to chase-down the housekeeping staff. Upon check-out, every person in our group had mischarges on their bill, and the language barrier made it difficult to resolve. Our room (as with others) were not given mini-bar selections, yet they managed to charge us for mini-bar items on the bill. Their New Year Eve celebration was average at best. Party started at 8:00, and they ran-out of wine and coffee (yes coffee - this is COSTA RICA) by 9:30. When we checked-in, a woman at the front desk screamed "this is the worst hotel I've stayed-at". This was by far the worst service experience I witnessed or ourselves and others in the group.

Not Tahiti
By Chris, 11/8/08
The location is great, on the beach and walking distance to most anything you would want to see. The downside, the town awakes about 0630 and you can hear it through the door to your room. The breakfast is nothing to write home about, but it is included in your room rate.

Friendly Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/11/08
I stayed in your hotel back in august 2008, and the only thing I did not cared for was the treatment by one of your waitresses. She was not friendly at all. But I have to said that the person encharged of the little cafe outside the hotel, was very friendly and helpful. Overall, the service was excellent.

Not the same as the pictures
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/25/08
Diria is the only Hotel with Beach Front property in Tamarindo. Beware though, the beachfront rooms are not on the same side of the street as the cool pool area they show in their pictures. If you go during green/rainy season, that pool bar area is closed. The rooms are adequate but small. The shower and toilet are in 1 room and the sink is in an alcove right outside the door. Also, oceanfront rooms have no weatherstripping so they are noisy because they are right on the main street. No normal US amenities like minifridge or larger screen TV. Tight fit for our family of 4. Water was unexpectedly shut off for about 2 hours one evening while one of our kids was taking a shower. Wait staff was rude AND slow, almost disinterested. Breakfast was bearable and buffet style and the lunch menu doesn't have much variety. We would recommend venturing to Nogui's, Copacabana and Nabinna for lunch and dinner. All were EXCELLENT and just a short walk up the beach from Diria.

Do not stay at this hotel
By MiriamG, 2/2/08
The only positive thing about this hotel is its beachfront location. I got woken every morning by the sound of the cleaning staff screaming up and down the hall starting at 7AM. The room was never cleaned properly. The front desk staff barely knew English and were not in the least bit helpful. We had called the hotel ahead of time to arrange a taxi to pick us up from the airport. After giving them all of our flight information (which took 20 minutes because they could not understand us) the car never showed up. When we got to the hotel and asked what happened the woman had nothing to say, she "did not know". The whole hotel was just so poorly run. Not to mention someone drown to death on our first day there. Apparently the hotel did not own a defibrillator and when the ambulance finally arrived there machine was out of batteries. Hard to believe I know but this really did happen. Even with all of these issues we did have an amazing time in Tamarindo and I would certainly recommend going. Just do not stay at this hotel. It is not worth the money at all. Stay at a nicer hotel for the same price and walk to the beach.

The best place in Tamarindo
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/14/08
The location is outstanding, right in the middle of town close to everything, and right on the beach. Our room overlooked the beach. The new Sunrise rooms are better, and more expensive, than the rooms in the older part of the hotel where we stayed the last time we were here. The big pool across the street is beautiful. The ocean water was clean, the problem with pollution is gone now that the heavy rains have stopped. Recommended.
