Casa La Lanchita, Florida

So fun! Don't expect a hotel though, this is more like a vacation rental. Doug rents Jeeps - you'll need one. Although the island is small, it's not so small that everything is within walking distance. The rooms are nice, but you will be your own maid service. I grabbed a couple of extra bath mats out of the laundry room to help keep sand out of the bed. The pool is spectacular and you're right on the beach. Great snorkeling right down the steps from your room. Carrie the day manager met us after we took the ferry across from Fajardo and after a few conversations about where to go for groceries and dinners, we were on our own. There are washer/dryer if you need them, and there's a fridge, gas stove and oven, and coffee maker in the room. Doug and MaryKay were really nice and treated us as family. Keep in mind that this is their home and they've been working on it for 25 years so you should be relatively quiet and respectful. We had no issues and Doug has some great stories! Definitely would recommend and would stay here again.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Casa La Lanchita, my sisters and I spent 4 days and 3 nights, Doug the owner of the property is a gem, he treated us as if we were his only guests, suite 9 was a dream the view what can I say is breathtaking. I would recommend this paradise 100% looking forward to July 2009...Doug if you read this thank you so much for your hospitality....

We loved it. Everything was great... Location, service, hospitality, rooms, pool. I will be back and recommend it highly. We were 3 guys looking to do some scuba diving and picked this place kinda out of the blue. Not only was the place great but they were very helpful and really helped us with information about the island and where to go.

Perfect in EVERY way!! Doug and Mary Kay were the best host & hostess!! This place was so relaxing and comfortable!! A real "at home" feeling but TRULY away from home... there wasn't a BETTER view than from our veranda (balcony) SIMPLY GORGEOUS!!! The accomodations were just right and the ocean sound was SO calming when it was time for sleep!! The people of Puerto Rico are very nice and friendly. The pool at Casa La Lanchita is SPARKLING clean!!! Fun and Sun and a WONDERFUL experience!! Thank You Doug & Mary Kay!!! Hope to see you again!!

Absolutely nothing to complain about. owners made us feel welcome like family. Rooms are clean, and have a kitchenette which is great. There is also an infinity pool facing the ocean. Rates are very reasonable and you can rent a jeep from la lanchita and that in itself is absolutely great. By far this is the best place to stay in Vieques!!! and for obvious reasons as outlined above. Its like being in your own home away from home.

The hosts of the guest house were super friendly. Great pool. Great ocean view. If you want a great place to escape this is it. I can't wait to come back with a group of friends.

From the moment you see the guesthouse when you are pulling into port, you know this place is special. After Doug picks you up, They show you to your room while they give you advice on where to go, where to eat and drink and what cool things you should do or see on the island. The rooms are mini suites with all you will need during yor stay. Good beds, pretty furniture, full kitchen and then the view from your private balcony! WOW! Did I mention direct tv and AC? The pool is perfect day or night. Fall asleep to the sounds of the waves crashing on the reef right in front of your room. I could go on and on but you have to go there to believe it. Vieques and Casa La Lanchita make for a fantastic vacation alone, with someone or with your friends or family. You will go back. I know we will!

Loved the atmosphere, rooms were so comfortable, the Island breeze, no need for air conditioning, the owners are the nicest and most accomodating. Their villa on the top is superb, cute dogs to. We can't wait to go back. Truly a relaxing vacation. We have traveled to the Carib. for many vacation, and my experience at LaLanchita has been the best over all. I only hope by writing this review they won't go up on the room rates.

The owners were super sweet, they gave us an island map and told us all the great places to eat and good things to do. We stayed in the cheapest room - #2 - although it did not seem all that different from the other rooms. There was an ocean view, double bed, efficiency kitchen, shared veranda, private bath, and AIR CONDITIONING in the bedroom. It was nice and clean, but definately not fancy. We had some problems with mosquitoes - even though we were wearing repellent (but we did go just at the end of rainy season!) The hotel had a great pool that was right on the ocean. It also had a communal laundry room with extra linens, beach towels, coolers, beach chairs, and a free local phone. There were even games in there - which came in handy when it rained! The pool area had a communal charcoal grill for the use of the guests. At $80/night, it was great. We rented a jeep from Doug. The car was in pretty good condition - it never left us stranded, but it did have to be coaxed into starting a few times. We would stay here again!
