Gloucestershire Hotel, Montego Bay

I can't think of anything that I disliked about the hotel. It is centrally located and within walking distance to everything, even to downtown Mobay. The breakfasts are very nice. The restaurant and bar staff are nice and friendly. I haven't been there for a few years so I am looking forward to the newly renovated place. I can't wait to visit again!! I hope they have Room 125 available for me when I go to visit. (smile)

My first visit was to celebrate my birthday. There was 8 of us women. At first I was a little disappointed because I had purchased and paid for the hotel package through the net and the hotel was 2 1/2 stars. I came around when I realized the other women were enjoying their time and not concerned that the hotel wasn't 4-5 star. The staff was great and we really enjoyed the breakfast each morning. Six of us returned a year later and I was most impressed with the waitress that approached our table and suggested that we didn't get in the car with a taxi driver, that was pressuring us to use his service, because he wasn't familiar around the hotel. As we left and went outside, I noticed that she kept passing back and forth looking out the front door. I felt she was keeping an eye on us to see if we did get into the taxi with the unknown taxi driver. This really made me feel safe and secure. We decided to try and get in contact with the driver we had the year before. We eventually got hold of him and have used him every since. He drove 9 of us to Negril, when we went there to celebrate my niece's graduation. I would definitely return to Gloucestershire the next time I visit Montego Bay. It's in the center of everything. We were able to do our soverveign shopping, walk to/from Margaritaville and some of the other clubs along the strip to hang out. There were many eateries along the strip as well. The hotel was able to set us up with a tour and our taxi driver drove us around Montego Bay and took us downtown to celebrate my birthday, one night.

The Gloucestershire hotel is a hotel that I would recomend to anyone who wants a great hotel in center of everything. It,s not all inclusive but the money that will save will allow you to get a real taste of Montego Bay on the strip and beyond. My wife and I went the last two years on our anniversary and we where very pleased. I highly recommend thie gloucestershire to any looking for service cleanliness, location,value and a great experience. Also the grounds of the hotel is well taken care of. When you go consider asking for a room overlooking the strip and has a view of the ocean. Enjoy your visit.

We have stayed here a number of times and had also stayed at other places but the Gloucesterhire is the place we like the best! It's in the middle of the "hip strip" with lots of interesting things to watch day and night. The staff remembers us from previous visits and always welcomes us home. We have made friends here and always call our taxi driver when we get in town. Rooms are simple but so are our needs. We always request the same room, love the sites of the strip, and the local shops which offer a discount for guests staying at the Gloucestershire. We start out our day with a very good breakfast right at the hotel and we really like hanging out on the patio to interact with the locals. Can't wait to come back and see the updates. Had to stay at a different place the last time we were "in town" due to the remodeling. Hopefully most of the staff was retained.

I pick this hotel not knowing what i was getting into. My flight was delayed and i informed the hotel of what was going on and was still charged for an extra night even thought I was not even in that country. It was a ok hotel for it being a local hotel. You can hear the car blowing in the street all night long. The location was right across from the tourist beach which made it a plus. I will be traveling back to Jamicia but not to that hotel.

My husband and I stay at this hotel in may of 08, the rooms are standard, but I enjoyed the view of the street. we were in the middle of everything. the dining room staff was the greatest and our maid, she was so nice. Hats off to the staffs Mrs. Calla Jahore

The Hotel is across the street from Doctors Cave Beach, on the strip with shopping just outside and airport is about 3 mins away. Restaurants are a few minutes walking distance. Everything you need is in walking distance. The staff are the greatest, especially the Dinnig Room Staff!! The hotel is OK for the price you pay, but could use an upgrade. I had a balcony room facing the beach and road - the noise from the traffic can get a bit loud, so I would recommend a back room if noise bothers you. Overall, great location and great hotel.

It was in the middle of everything..all of the action. We really enjoyed our stay! The rooms are not up to US Standards, but they were clean and a deal at their price. You must get a room on the street with a balcony if you want to see all the action. I was afraid after I booked the hotel, then I looked at the reviews and thought I'd gotten the wrong hotel. But, after being there I was extremely pleased. The food in the restaurant was wonderful. Our room came with breakfast...it was a typical Jamaican breakfast, which was great and a great way to explore other foods and typical Jamacian Food. They have a chef that will cook eggs anyway you want it. Everyone in the hotel went out of their way to please and help us, except the front desk. They have a bad disposition! We did not use the pool...why with a beautiful beach across the street! One review told me to take $100 in one dollar bills...this was good advise. The people there only make their money from tips...so tip well! Would I go there again? Of course, I can not wait to go again!!!

We stayed in this hotel for 4 days/3 nights and it was amazing. The hotel room is simple but nice and clean. We had an ocean view and a small balcony which was very nice. Right across the street is a beautifull private beach called Doctor's Cave Beach. You have to pay $5 to get in but you are protected from people trying to sell you something (anything/everything). We rented a car because we wanted to see the rest of the island, but if you are planning on staying in the neighborhood this hotel is in the great location...right on the "Hip Strip"...street with a lots of stores , restaurants and bars. About the room: It was clean, we had enough towels, soap and shampoo. There was no remote for the TV. There is an AC in the room, but we didn't turn it on at all, because we weren't too hot. People working for the hotel were nice. Jamaican people are very very nice people , but it gets annoying at times when they don't stop asking you for money. But they stop bothering you after you tell them no (couple times)... If you don't need to be pampered , this is the place for you:) We loved it.

Well if im totally honest i go to JA every year and this hotel for a basic hotel was great, the location was perfect and the staff were pleasant. The rooms are very clean and the common areas were also clean but the pool is under a tree and that kind of shed leaves in the pool but if you ask them to clean it they do. The hot tub was great and me and the girls have great memories in this hotel. I would suggest it to anyone whom goes to jamaica for the party life but not for long term stays a week its cool and the beach is just across the road although you have topay to get in if your nice to the guards they kind of give you a discount. lol
