Almond Beach Village, St Peter

Very poor service in the Horizon Restaurant.We selected the resort because it advertised lighted tennis courts, there were no lights and the courts had beach sand on them .I reported this to management for four days.I would venture to say there is still sand on the courts as Nov. 1, 2010.

My room was OK compared to some of the other reviews. But, the service was horrible. The waitresses wouldn't crack a smile is their life depended on it. Also, , turtles moves faster than they did. They would seat you then my cousin and I had to wait 5-10 minutes before they even came over and asked if you wanted coffee. The place wasn't even full or busy, they were just lazy. Even though they have several restaurants , after 4 days you want to go somewhere else and eat. The resort was is far away from most decent restaurants so if you want to shop or eat somewhere else its a nightmare. The buses are a horror. They speed, drive crazy and are full of the " regulars " who push and shove. They have no respect for US citizens and you get the feeling that they actually hate us. I will never go to Barbados again and if I do I will NOT stay there again.

Just got back yesterday and decided to share this with everyone interested. Most of the Staff were very friendly especially at the dinner restaurants and the Grille Bar. For some reason, the staff at breakfast (Horizon) were not helpful and seemed to have an attitude. The Buffet Breakfast was the worst I've been to and we've been to several other resorts in the Carribean. Dark, dingy and not very clean (didn't want to touch the toaster it was disgusting!) Dinners weren't too bad. When we checked in we were also told that they upgraded us. When we entered the room...we were horrified, very outdated and not very clean...extremely small, no fridge etc... we complained and were upgraded again to the #7 Building which wasn't bad, still on the small side. Atleast that building had an elevator. If you're an American and under 40 this place is not for you. 95% British tourists and the average age is 50 plus OR young families with small children. Hope this helps...plenty of BETTER values out there! P.S. Gentlemen, don't bother bringing tanks or cut-off shirts CAN'T wear them to either breakfast or lunch...and make sure you bring slacks because don't even think you'll get in any of the restaurants in shorts!! BLOODY WASTE of our time and money!!!! (for our Britsh friends)

I loved it u dont want to leave. It was parradise. The kayaking was super you can see tones of fishes. from the moment u get there u feel at home very friendly staff almost as if u have known them for ages. As i am kid i wanted alot of activities and i was spoilt for choice. My dad mesed up the safe but the staff came up as soon as it happend and fixed it. i think it is a relaxing, stressles, paradise.the food is lovely i loved the breakfast. these memories will last forever so i would recomend this for everyone couples and kids. if u do go enjoy it

The food was excellent, great choice, menu was not repeated over a two week period. Service excellent and friendly. My son had a birthday while there and the fuss they made of him was brilliant. All three restaurants are highly recommended. Buffet food all day from the square was also good, chips, bolognaise, burgers, salads etc. All hot and fresh. Room service menu excellent and arrived hot and beautifully prepared. Location excellent although a little out of the way if wanting to shop in Bridgetown. Beach fabulous, sandy, gently shelving and safe for kids. Kids club, what can I say, I felt guilty putting my kids in for a couple of hours a day, but they begged and screamed to go. Air conditioned, clean and amazing staff, the children swam under their supervision, they painted, they played games and watched a little tv. They loved it. Babysitting service in the evening excellent with trusted staff from the kids clubs. Accomodation, mm not so great. Clean but tired and the rooms quite small. Bathroom not up to much and towels old and tattered. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel and would hope their rooms are overhauled soon. If you are going lucky you.

We took our 3 children aged 9, 12 and 16 to Almond Beach Village for this year's vacation. On arrival we were told we had been upgraded to Superior Deluxe Pool view rooms. I hate to think what it would be like if not upgraded. Our rooms although tired were clean (you could see they hadn't even taken the pictures of the walls last time they were painted as the frames had paint all over them!!), the furniture was very very scruffy and we had no balcony which was a big disappointment. They also have huge issues with flooding when it rains - one day some public areas were under a foot of water (including toilets) I hate to think what else other than water was in the "flood". The Pools were good - the kids liked the main kids pool with its slides and the large pool by the main restaurant is good as well (though it was closed for a number of days due to heavy rainfall and dubious foreign bodies in the pool following the rain!) The pool near the windmill tower was decidedly colder than the others, but much quieter. The adults pools looked good, but having kids we avoided them! We went jet skiing with the locals as the hotel does not provide this.We got 3 jet skis for 15 mins for 70 US. (ask for Patrick on the beach in front of the adults only bar.) The food was generally good - however beware ordering a picnic - it comes in a cool bag with no icepack - so if you have ordered chicken rolls they will be a warm salmenella concoction by lunchtime. The staff were mixed - some could not help enough (the lady that runs kids club), others were distinctly indifferent. Queuing for meals was also a pain (tip if you book a table for seven go down about 6.45 you will be seated straight away if you turn up at 7 you will be waiting until 7.20 in a queue.) Overall the kids enjoyed it as it was their first long haul trip. Personally I have been to far better places for less money in the Carribean and Indian Ocean. Other Tips - we organised our own day out - St Nicolas Abbey is a must, their guide was brilliant and all members of the family were transfixed. First Carribean Bank does not allow you to use Mastercard to withdraw money from its ATMs - best bet is to ask for Nova Scotia Bank if you are a MAstercard user.

i've been to Almond Beach Village four times now and i've like it every time. the service is good and efficiant. i've gone at christmas three times and i always see santa, i remember one year he came on a donkey and there were all us screaming children and the donkey took one look at us, turned round and walked of again. another year santa came by boat.

my family have been going to alomond beach village for 10 years now.for the last 5 years our group party is growing.last year there were 14 of us.this year there will be about 18 of us. We have had some fantastic holidays and can not thank the staff enough for looking after us all.what we like about the hotel is the choice of restaurants which are of a very high standard.we usually only eat together on the first and last night of our holiday.i would recomend upgrading to s uperior pool/ocen view room as the standard rooms are a bit smalll and sometimes a little dark as restricted by palm trees.the staff are very friendly especially dorren.lucille.eirleen who work at the adults only north pool bar.the beach is lovely plenty of space.cant wait to return in september.

After originally being booked at the Almond Beach Club and demanding a refund, we were moved here. This is a large property with all of the amenities. Make sure you ask for a room in the newer section (we were in room 7427) with an ocean-front room. It was fabulous! We could here the waves crashing onto the shore at night and the view was fantastic! The beach is nice and sandy, rather than the ever present rocks at the ABC. There are monkeys on the property and I even got to see a real, live mongoose! The food is pretty good. Make sure you eat at Enid's at least once for traditional Bajan fare and the Reef is an above-average option for seafood. Though drinks are included in the "all-inclusive" rate, make sure you call for top-shelf...I grew to like Mount Gay rum as Bacardi is not an option in Barbados. The staff are friendly. If you have any problems whatsoever, ask for Melissa in Guest Services. She is the epitome of good customer service. I would definitely stay here again.

I got married at the almond beach village and i loved it, so did my husband and we wouldn't have had it any other way! The room was good it was the first time we'd been away and not had those rediculous twin beds that come apart in the middle of the night so that was a winner for us. Our little boy loved the kids club and mithered us about it from the moment we got there til the moment we went home so that made it another winner for us. The food was fab and so were the staff - they were really friendly and i was quite worried about this after reading the other peoples reviews but what can i say - maybe these guests were rude first! It was a bit of a pain having to book the restaurants but it wasn't that much of a bother. The food in the day was lovely they seemed to have little variations every day though i tended to go for the fish as i don't eat much of it at home. Horizons was good in the night for the entertainment - the people they had to do the job were brilliant although it would have been nice to have something a bit different every now and again. Overall a great holiday now we would like to go back without our boy so that we can go out in the night!!!
