The Regattas of Abaco, Marsh Harbour

I have been going there since the early 90's ... the ambience is some of the most charming in the world IMHO! They have endured huricanes and severe storm damage, but always recover. The units are spacious and more than adequate for a comfortable week. They are working fast and furious on updates and creature comforts. WiFi was added in the past year. The resort has survived some of the worst management imaginable. Since divesting of the original developer's/management the owners have worked diligently to make your vacation memorable. The property is now know as Abaco Towns by the Sea. The Regattas portion are individually owned condos that do not have an ocean view. The people of Marsh Harbour are some of the best in the world. Year after year they remember me and I can walk in the Jib and Steven will know exactly what to pour! Della is over at Mango's and whether you're looking for 5 star dining or a sports bar, you'll find it. Hope Town and Guana Cay deserve just as much mention. They are wonderful day trips. If you want to relax and get away, Abaco Towns by the Sea is something not just to see, but to experience!

I have been coming to this wonderful place since I was 12. I'm 32 now... Chris who works at the front desk is wonderful and helpful. You have to understand before going there that it has been in multiple hurricanes so some things are missing (the dock) or broken. However, you could not have a better condo on the beach. If you have any problems, the front desk will help you like none other. I only wish people in the states were as nice and helpful. It's very easy to get to know the locals, so don't be a snob. They are beautiful people and the area is not as commercialized as Paradise Island (which I visited before it was anything) and Nassau. This place is wonderful, the people are wonderful and it's like Cheer's... they will remember your name. Snorkeling and Scuba diving is great. Mermaids Reef is wonderful. I'm scared of scuba so I snorkel but Mermaids Reef is beautiful. Check out The Jib, Show bo..who makes fresh conch salad..Yum... Just get their early . Avoid grilled conch at Snappas...However everything else is wonderful and the service is great. They will remember your name. Just leave a good tip. Mangos is good, but the Jib is better. The easiest way of transportation is renting a bike. You can ride to the ferries that take you island hopping. The best island is Hope Town. I love the Regattas and everything in that area. It's in walking or biking distance. However the people are so nice that if they see you about to die from the heat, they will give you a ride for free..but be nice, tip them good. One of the best local eateries is the Golden Grouper downtown by the post office. Local food..cheap...people are nice..and the food is wonderful!!! Enjoy!!!! And be nice to chris at the front desk....He is a good man.

Nice snorkeling off one of the most picturesque beaches I have seen in years, and just 34 steps from the Condo patio. Of course, if you are on the hill, you have a stunning view of the Sea of Abaco. We rented a 20ft Albury and, well, I can only describe our fun by saying we boated over a turquoise sea jewled by Starfish on a white sandy botton. The visibility of the water is so clear that on a bad day to can see 50 feet. In the evening, after dinner at a nice resturant -- there are 2 nice and 2 world class resturants within 500 feet of the entrance to the Regattas -- we just sit on the beach, under the stars, and watch the wind ripple across the Sea of Abaco. On the Cays, take the ferry or boat, if you want to see footprints in the sand, you need to turn around to look at your own footprints. We are returning next year, and the year after that, too.

The light fixtures were broken, Master Bedroom Bed was broken on right side, Only change sheets and towels once per week! office closes at 5:00, no staff to help after that ... bbq's provided never cleaned... not a great place to stay .... much better values on the islsand if you can find aailability!!!

Location was great. Rooms were comfortable, but basic. Beach/pool furniture was in a bit of a sad state, but it's on a very pretty beach. We found it a little expensive for the price. We found the locals to be very friendly and helpful. They are great ambassadors for their island.

It was sooo close to everything!!! It was easy getting any where on the island. Also if you want to take a ferry to a different island it isn't too far of a walk to the ferry. Thankfully my in-laws have a condo there and we will be able to go back in the future!!!

The Ragattas were wonderful. Excellent location, view, services, beach and local hospitality. The snorkeling is just outstanding as was the food and weather. Highly recommended to any ocean lovers and travelers.

This was our second trip to the Regattas. The resort itself is lovely. The grounds are immaculate and picturesque. It seems each unit, no matter where it is located, looks out onto something beautiful. Our favorite units are those high on a hill overlooking the Sea of Abaco with its many shades of turquoise closely followed by those directly on the beach with some interesting snorkeling along the rock jetty. We stayed two weeks and enjoyed it so much that we cut our trip to another island short and returned to the Regattas for an additional week. You couldn't find a better location to stay if you are interested in scuba/snorkeling, dining, shopping and island-hopping. There's an excellent dive shop, a great restaurant and bar right on the marina in the main harbour, the ferry to two of the Out Islands-one with the most beautiful beach and great reefs for snorkeling- all 1/2 block away. There's great shopping for clothing, collectibles and art, other good restaurants and a car rental shop equally accessible. It's a short walk to one of MH famous sites- Mermaid Reef- just offshore. And no trip to Abaco is complete without conch salad. The best we found was a short walk along the harbour to the little stall where George prepares it fresh right before you. Bring a camera because the expressions on the onlookers' faces are worth capturing on film! The only negative we encountered is the difficulty in making phone calls. Pay phones are not common place and finding private phones to use for local calls is difficult. The phone service was out of service for most of the last week we were there. Had I realized the difficulty beforehand, I would have taken my cell phone with me. From talking with the locals, it seems most cell phone services charge the same per minute for calls to the US as the local phone company in the Bahamas. Live and learn!
