Love this place. The negative reviews saying this place is old, well, thats what I love about it, beautiful old style mexican villa feel and charm. Always clean, Food is great. Nice pools, nice beach, nice staff. If I want shiny and new I go to Vegas. Great place for kids as well, they always have fun.

our next trip is booked
By ,
i have to say a great hotel/resort we had such agreat time with our family there last year we have our flights booked for this year.We had so many things planned and hardly anyting got done because the kids were having such a great time atthe the hotel they offer everything a teenager could want and all day long not once did i hear were bored what is there to do. Everything thing from bingo to volleyball to horseshoes, painting etc.. etc.... and so nice to have 2 pools and a CLEAN well maintained beach and the water was amazing and the views wow no obstruction of high rises and other hotels fantastic . The personal was a refreshing change not pushy and took a vestided interest in us and the young adults without being obnoxious. i recommend this hotel for everyone and who wouldnt want to stay in aplace that has the true mexican feel may be older but the charm is what MEXICO is all about bravo to all the staff for that

We own at Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan and call it home!
By ,
We leave for Mazatlan in a few days and I am just as excited to get there this time as I have been for all of the other times. We bought our timeshare at PBM on a resale 10 years ago and it was the best purchase we ever made. The City of Mazatlan has become one of our favorites as there is so much to do, the people are friendly, the weather is fantastic and the food...well you can imagine...the seafood capital!! We have never felt the least bit unsafe. The hotel employees are the best and always ready to offer their service. The business owners in the Golden Zone are friendly and always ready to help you make a deal. The old town, city center is filled with museaums, art galleries, outdoor cafes, music, parks and so much more. The mercado (shopping market) is filled from top to bottom with everything you can imagine to buy. In the past few years we have had friends warn us of the dangers in Mexico but I am the first to say "I am just as safe in Mexico and in the USA". No matter where you go in the world you have to use common sense. And no matter where you go in the world, if something bad happens, chances are it would have happened no matter where you are. Ask the families of those lost in Haiti or those lost in Somalia by the tsunami wave or those lost in the Twin Towers on 9/11. There is no way to avoid fate. PBM is our favorite location to stay. We have traveled to many Mexican cities and it is by far our favorite destination. PBM is quaint and much like old Mexico. The units are tiles, woods, stucco and brightly decorated. The grounds are not huge and do not require a marathon to get from one end to the other. You see people, meet people and find new friends unlike the bigger resort where you are just a number in a huge crowd. The atmosphere at PBM is quiet, relaxed and peaceful. There is always plently to do if that is what you enjoy or you can do absolutely nothing! PBM is at the end of the Golden Zone, no other resorts to the north so it is far quieter than the resort in the middle or south end of the Golden Zone. I love Mazatlan Mexico and will continue to enjoy the beauty, the culture, the people and the warmth for as long as I can!!

can't wait to go back !!!!!
By ,
The hotel is beautiful, large rooms with 2 full beds( not queen) but very comfortable we decided to stay on the 1st floor, BIG mistake it was close to the parking so cars with loud music at 3 a.m very noisy so get an ocean view or 2nd floor Cilantros restaurant is the best and if you like Italian food you have to go to Angelos it's delicious The rooms have refrigerator, stove ,plates everything I personally would not cook I would rather go out to eat but the people trying to sell you timeshare get on your nerves I saw many people taking bags with snacks and a couple groceries ,I think we might do that on our next trip, you save some money and enjoy the beautiful beach if you like to drink Happy hour is from 12 noon to 1.pm and again from 4.pm. to 5.pm the drinks are a bit watered down I suggest a pacifico beer .If you are going to rent wave runners which are so much fun ,take your own vest!! if your not a very good swimmer. We rented a wave runner, make sure you do this around noon before 4.pm because the waves were very choppy to make the long story short we got lost so please be aware of not going in too deep in the ocean we were about 2miles away from the hotel but then again we couldn't get to close to shore because of the waves.I went into shore I stopped the wave runner and a big wave threw us into the ocean to my BIG surprise I felt heavy I couldn't float I swim a bit but the vest was not helping I personally think they were damaged. anyways it was so much fun, scary but fun.

We Went Back Twice And Loved It !
By ,
The first year was 2005. We stayed at Emerald Bay, It was so beautiful, the grounds with the awesome pools and the sunsets. We went in December so everything was decorated for Christmas. The second time was December 2007. This time I went a week earlier than my husband and stayed downtown. A week was not long enough for me, I needed two! It's not as new as Emerald Bay but it was nice, being right on the beach and the staff were great.Much closer to getting downtown. We met alot of very nice people and hung out with them at the pool and for dinners. I can't recall the resturant across the street but the steaks are great and you have to check out "The Purple Onion" hung out there alot good food and always had a great time, It's kitty corner from from the hotel. Will go back again.

Management problem if you own timeshare
By ,
Both properties, Mazatlan (beach) and Emerald Bay are owned and managed by the same corporation but different management personnel. the problem in working with Pueblo Bonito management and--for istance, RCI is communications. We have owned ( purchased timeshares) at each property for over 10 years. In order to book reservations and deposit a week, the management continues to confuse the two properties. We go to deposit a week for Emerald Bay and are told "you have already stayed here this year" or, "we have no record of your RCI membership. On the last trip ( Aug 07) we spent over an hour in the management office OF EACH PROPERTY attempting to resolve the problem. It remains too difficult for Pueblo Bonito to resolve. Their yearly fee for maintenance is sure on time tho!! The Beach property is old and none of the 245 rooms are pest-free. This location has become popular with the locals for week end stays so it is very often overcrowded and the pool water would probably not pass health department inspection. Emerald Bay by comparrison is a utopia of recreation and relaxation. It is beautiful and rooms--every one--is close to eating, swimming and just plain great.

A beautiful proposal
By ,
Loved it! Shopping and drinks come to you while relaxing under a palm leaf umbrella on the beach or by the beautiful pool/bar. You actually swim under a mini waterfall to get to the bar, makes awsome pictures! My fiance proposed to me on the beach at sunset it was so perfect, except watch for the tide when it comes in , when it come it comes fast so off the beach! Many helpful locals, tours/guides ask for "shelly" on the beach. There is also horse back ridding on the beach mini boat tours fishing, parasailing, and other activities the hotel puts on. Wonderful food and happy hour!

COMING BACK IN OCTOBER
By ,
THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME AT PUEBLO BONITO AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO RETURNING IN OCTOBER 2007, THIS TIME I WILL BRING MY SON. THE STAFF WERE AMAZING AND EVERYDAY REMEBERED OUR "LIKES" AND WOULD BRING THEM TO US WITHOUT US ASKING. THE ROOM WAS VERY COMFORTABLE AND HAD PLENTY OF ROOM. WE HAD SOME TROUBLE WITH ROOM SERVICE ORDERS BUT THE STAFF WAS QUICK TO REDEEM THE PROBLEM AND WE FELT VERY TAKEN CARE OF.

Anxious for next year!
By ,
2007 was our first time in Mexico and we are already looking forward to returning next year. Pueblo Bonito, Mazatlan was a great place to spend our first visit. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We purchased time at Emerald Bay while there and found this resort also to be breathtaking in every aspect. It is a new resort and will need some time to provide nearby shopping services, etc. We have made reservations for next year and will spend some time at the Mazatlan Pueblo Bonito as well as we enjoyed the activities they provided there as well as the many friendships we made. They also provide free shuttle service between Emerald Bay and Mazatlan Resorts for your convenience.
