SO FUN!!!
By ,
I loved Canto Del Sol. I just went there a week ago. Beautiful resort. The staff was very friendly and constantly checking up on you. I spent most of the time at the pool which was kept up very well. They were always cleaning and making sure that the hotel is spick and span. I went for my college spring break and was a little nervous that there would be all families there but there were college students from all over the U.S. The hotel would also attend a club every night together. I felt very safe. The hotel was close to the town as well. Just a 10 min cab ride which was always around 5 dollars for me and two other girls. Love it and want to go back. I hope this helped!!!

Awsome!!!!
By ,
We were a little worried after reading some poor reviews when we booked our trip, but were extremely suprised and very happy once we got there. Who ever wrote those bad reviews DID NOT stay at the same place we did!!! The staff was amazing!!! Not only did the gals at the front desk let us pick our own room, (I looked through about 6 different rooms), the gals at the guest services helped me with a credit card problem while we were there! They even have a doctor at the resort, (yes, we did have to visit the doctor durring our visit. We went on vacation with strepp throat!). The house keeping staff, ( on the second floor), and everyone around the pool area treated us like we were at a 5 or 6 star resort! I'd like to mention some of them by name, but I'm sure I'd forget someone, and that wouldn'd be fair to any of the staff. I can't say enough good about them!! The staff at Canto Del Sol made a great vacation even better, and we are already making plans to go back again next year!!!

All around nice place!
By ,
My husband and I have had a time share for 25 years at Canto Del Sol. It has always been a very friendly place. Last year all the rooms were being remodeled with new furniture. It is kept spotless. It is not a fancy shamanzy place but very nice - close to downtown, tennis courts. We love it.

Puerto Vallarta

We found Canto to be clean staff were great and we had a terrific vacation. The food gets boring after a few days, but that allows you to venture out. Canto´s location is perfect 15 minutes to town and around the corner a block awat we found a great sports bar called Blakes Sports Bar and Restaurant. The food was fresh and not considered bar food, shrimp and pasta was amazing. We will return in the fall to Canto and again visit Blakes and Hectors

Sooo many places better for the price!!!!
By ,
I have been to Mexico five times and never have I stayed at such an out dated, overpriced place. The local is good for taking a bus into town. But it smelled like sulfur and sewer most of the time. Our rooms smelled of mold and the air didn't work in all the rooms. The food was the worst I have ever seen lots of mystery items!! I would recommend staying a little out of the city(15 mins) and get an awesome resort with all the updated amenities you deserve for the price. Try Marival resort in Nuevo Vallarta it is like a dream. I read everyones rave reviews before I stayed at Canto and now afterwards I can only figure these people have never stayed at a nice resort, I stress staying elsewhere. Even try the Riu or any other resort built in the last twenty years!!! Be for warned!!!!!

A really good trip
By ,
Overall: It was a decent hotel, in a good location. Meals: Breakfasts were great - lunch/dinner food was ok. Staff:The staff were very helpful. Weather: The weather was great (we went at the end of January) - sunny & warm. Access: Great! A short taxi ride to the airport...maybe 30 minutes? Downtown is also a quick taxi ride away - like 5-10 minutes. Tons of restaurants and shops in town. I never had to wait more than one minute for a taxi. Safety: I felt VERY safe when in PV - even late at night walking in downtown. Activities: We didn't go on any tours - too busy sunbathing at the pool everyday. There are plenty of things to do - you can even watch whales from the pool area! The hotel has a few organized activities, like yoga, water aerobics, volleyball, etc. There were quite a few families with young kids as well as young adults and retired folks. I would say that there was an even distribution of ages. I will definately go back again. I loved PV.

A great place
By ,
We stayed at Canto del Sol in Mar 2006. The resort was beautiful and an open air lobby. We initially had a problem with our room which was right off of the lobby. The air didn't work, bad view etc. The staff happily upgrade us to a room overlooking the pool (nice) no charge. The was food was good (buffet)and had adequate variety with made to order omlets for breakfast. The sunsets were awesome! Service was good. Drinks brought directly to you at the pool!! Fun pool entertainment + volleyball on the beach. Close to downtown for some culture! Great Value compared to other pricey resorts in Nueva Vallarta.

What a GREAT Place
By ,
This was a wonderful place for our first visit to P.R. I read some horrible reviews after booking the flight and hotel and was a little scared of what would happen. First of all the staff is so friendly and helpful from Sergio the bell man to Jose the beach bar man. They worked hard everyday to make our stay enjoyable!! The desk staff, the guest services, EVERYONE were wonderful. Very few children were there at the same time as us, could have been a coincidence or the norm, I am not sure. The food in the buffet was great. They had a different theme each night. It was buffet food, so don't get to excited. Eat your breakfast at the cafe' by the beach. they have made to order food and you get service at your table. It is almost on the beach and is a wonderful experience in the morning. Getting there at 9 am there is no problem getting service. In addition they have decent burgers, taco's and hot dogs for a quick lunch snack. I was not impressed with either of the specialty restaurants that we visited (we did not have any problems getting reservations, even on the same day). If you want to try some great sea food take a taxi ride for a few bucks and ask them to take you to the Happy Lobster (Langusta Fiesta), looks like a dive from the outside, but is beautiful with great food! The cost low for the excellent service and amount of food. I suggest getting the combination for two. We had a horrible room with no view the first night, made one request to be moved and was moved to a room with a perfect view of the ocean and pool area of the hotel. I guess being nice and tipping wells gets around at this hotel:) There was some noise at night from the lobby bar inside the hotel, but they closed at midnight and this was not a problem, aren't most people at an all inclusive to have fun, stay up late, and party with some new people (no I am not a teenager, I am 48 years old!). They had nightly entertainment on a stage by the ocean and it was fun! It would have been nice to have the pool bar open during the entertainment as the lobby bar is not really that close and there is not service at night. The place was beautifully kept and they were in the midst of updating the rooms and areas while we were there. The location is perfect! Hint: Don't pay a huge amount for transfer to this hotel. It is ten minutes (with traffice) from the airport and it should cost you about $7.00 American dollars to get to the hotel. There are shops, a massage parlor and things to do within walking distance or walk to the corner and pay a few pesos and take the bus five minutes into town and visit Senior Frogs, the shops, craft fairs and all the wonderful restaurants! Don't fall for the 10 t 1 rate they try to give you at shops! Change your money and use peso's!!!! The rare of exchange is much more than that:) We took out 2000 pesos from our ATM card and according to most shops that would be 200 American dollars, but when we got home, the bank had only charged the account 146 dollars! They will try to talk you into a 90 minute time share seminar (they send you to talk to them as soon as you check into your room. They were really nice and we got a free massage and tour, but it was 3 hours of wasted beach time, you decide. Anyway, we spent 7 wonderful days at this hotel! I did not want to leave I was so happy. I am sure there are much nicer hotels, but for the value this was awesome! We will definitely stay here again!!

Don't stay here
By ,
I am an owner with trendweat, canto del sol just opened up in 2007 to owners with trendwest. They gave us the worst room, stating that they have their own owners club who have first choice. This hotel can be booked by anyone. The pool is utilized by adults and babies wearing diapers. The evening is filled with loud echo's from main bar yelling for 'more' tequila shots. This is not a place to go if you want to relax. Young people come indroves here as well as locals. The doors have old key access entry vs credit card type locks. Awful wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
