What a GREAT Place
This was a wonderful place for our first visit to P.R.
I read some horrible reviews after booking the flight and hotel and was a little scared of what would happen.
First of all the staff is so friendly and helpful from Sergio the bell man to Jose the beach bar man. They worked hard everyday to make our stay enjoyable!! The desk staff, the guest services, EVERYONE were wonderful.
Very few children were there at the same time as us, could have been a coincidence or the norm, I am not sure.
The food in the buffet was great. They had a different theme each night. It was buffet food, so don't get to excited. Eat your breakfast at the cafe' by the beach. they have made to order food and you get service at your table. It is almost on the beach and is a wonderful experience in the morning. Getting there at 9 am there is no problem getting service. In addition they have decent burgers, taco's and hot dogs for a quick lunch snack. I was not impressed with either of the specialty restaurants that we visited (we did not have any problems getting reservations, even on the same day). If you want to try some great sea food take a taxi ride for a few bucks and ask them to take you to the Happy Lobster (Langusta Fiesta), looks like a dive from the outside, but is beautiful with great food! The cost low for the excellent service and amount of food. I suggest getting the combination for two.
We had a horrible room with no view the first night, made one request to be moved and was moved to a room with a perfect view of the ocean and pool area of the hotel. I guess being nice and tipping wells gets around at this hotel:)
There was some noise at night from the lobby bar inside the hotel, but they closed at midnight and this was not a problem, aren't most people at an all inclusive to have fun, stay up late, and party with some new people (no I am not a teenager, I am 48 years old!).
They had nightly entertainment on a stage by the ocean and it was fun! It would have been nice to have the pool bar open during the entertainment as the lobby bar is not really that close and there is not service at night.
The place was beautifully kept and they were in the midst of updating the rooms and areas while we were there.
The location is perfect! Hint: Don't pay a huge amount for transfer to this hotel. It is ten minutes (with traffice) from the airport and it should cost you about $7.00 American dollars to get to the hotel. There are shops, a massage parlor and things to do within walking distance or walk to the corner and pay a few pesos and take the bus five minutes into town and visit Senior Frogs, the shops, craft fairs and all the wonderful restaurants!
Don't fall for the 10 t 1 rate they try to give you at shops! Change your money and use peso's!!!! The rare of exchange is much more than that:) We took out 2000 pesos from our ATM card and according to most shops that would be 200 American dollars, but when we got home, the bank had only charged the account 146 dollars!
They will try to talk you into a 90 minute time share seminar (they send you to talk to them as soon as you check into your room. They were really nice and we got a free massage and tour, but it was 3 hours of wasted beach time, you decide.
Anyway, we spent 7 wonderful days at this hotel! I did not want to leave I was so happy. I am sure there are much nicer hotels, but for the value this was awesome! We will definitely stay here again!!
