Very Relaxing
I had done a lot of investigation online before booking but was still worried about my choice of accommodations. I asked for the cost of an upgrade at check in and was happy we decided to pay for the oceanfront room. The hotel is divided into two distinct sections. The rooms in the two story section to the south are far and above better rooms and a positively gorgeous location overlooking the beach. Our room was on the second floor of this wing and had travertine floors throughout, vaulted ceilings, a king size bed, refrigerator, a nice balcony with chairs and table, and all the ammenities one would expect in a first class hotel.
The on site restaurants, one casual and one Italian, were both very good quality and every evening there was a Happy Hour in the bar where one could consume two for one of most any drink imaginable. the Margaritas are naturally, quite delicious. Lunches were delightful with local specialties served everyday overlooking the water in a very casual setting.
Only detractions I can think of might be the horrid, high pressure vacation club come on at check in (just say NO to the free champagne) and my slight disappointment that the beach is really more for snorkellers rather than swimmers. Most of the shore is rocky even though the beach itself has beautiful (albeit trucked in) white sand. Palapas huts offer welcome shade and several hammocks invite one to kick back and relax. We did little more than that for the week we stayed at this hotel.
Spa services were some of the best I've ever had! Massage and facial were awesome quality.
Best restaurants of the week (get to them via taxi) were the Lobster House on the north end of the island, Casa Mission off the main drag downtown and The Verandah.
A memorable week.
