Buenaventura Grand Hotel and Spa All-Inclusive, 5 de Diciembre

We went to the Beunaventura in May 2005. My experience was somewhat different than from most of the reviews I read. The service/staff was excellent and very friendly. The hotel was very clean and had a beautiful pool area. The beach was not swimmable,very rocky and the water is rough. The food did not agree with me I think it is mainly due to the difference in the dairy products, so I do not know if it would be any different at any other all inclusive. My biggest disapointment was with the activitie directors. Sun to Thurs was quiet and we had 3 teenage girls that were never once occupied with any activities. As the activity directors were young they could have gotton a water volleyball game going or something to entertain the girls which were ages 15,15 and 16. As it was the girls were bored.If I ever thought to go back to Puerto Vallarta though the hotel is nice I would probably try another place to stay.

we were expecting a 4apple, but what we got was a 2.5 for the price we paid. the room was awful,mold and mildue on the bathroom walls. broken tiles in the shower. the pool had black scum and mold on the water line, and the jaccuzzi had broken tiles in the bottom of it, When we complained, they gave us a better suite with a jaccuzzi in it but for an additional $15.00 US a night. the only thing this place has going for it is the service and the food. never again.

When checking in look at your room first. If it is not to your liking be prepared to move to another the following day. It's not an uncommon thing to do. Ask for rooms ending in the 49 number. Oceanview, spa tub etc any numbers lower are nice with picture perfect view of ocean. It has been 15 years since I last visited Puerto Vallarta and we will not wait that long again. The Hotel has an excellent staff many who came from the Camino Real work at meeting your needs. We all used the Spa and agreed that it was much better than in the States. Relaxing and Comfortable. The All-Inclusive plan was very good and since we had a party of 10 made things very accomadating for everyone. Although, we did venture out. I found an old haunt "La Panarama" to be better than ever. Don't miss it. The View, Food and Service is second to none. We all took a day trip to see parts of P.V and a van came by to pick us up $135 for 6 hours and Gorge our guide was a history lesson that was beyond compare. The tour desk was very helpful. Our overall feeling is "Never judge a book by it's cover" the Hotel Buenaventura has a strong hold on what Mexico Vactions are all about,"Hospitality and Service."

Be careful when choosing the all inclusive tab we wound up paying 500.00 more then we had reserved for. Manager was very unprofessional when dealing with this matter. Other staff members were friendly. Wouldn't reccomend this hotel. Bed was very hard and power went out at least 5 times on our 5 day trip. It took them close to 15 minutes to turn power back on everytime.

Best location of all the finer hotels in pto. It's close to down town which makes "touring on foot" very easy to do. Staff is tops and very helpful and friendly. I have been coming to PTO. for years and this is my favorite place to stay.

You can't beat this location! The staff was pleasant and the concierge very helpful. I wouldn't do all-inclusive again as the service was non-existant (but very plentiful for non-all inclusive guests), and there are many, many restaurants within easy walking distance. The rooms were very clean, but a little musty which I got used to. The pool was nice, but kind of grungy.

Excellent place. Stayed December 2003, going back Febuary 2005. 5 minute walk to downtown, nice pool area, friendly staff, great food!

I made a trip to Puerto Vallarta the first week of October 2004 and found the place very calm with very few tourist (which was great for me). The Buenaventura Hotel is right on the beach. The food was great and had a variety of plates to choose from. THere was also a tour agency in the lobby where you could book different activities(for a fee). Be sure not to loose anything they give you like towel cards (which we never used), remote controls, and other little stuff, they will charge for them. ALso if you pay all inclusive you will have to wear a wrist band so they can tell you apart from non inclusive guests. We took the SHambar (or something like that) tour and we went snorkeling, went out to an island where we rode on horseback up the jungle to view and swam at some waterfalls, you also had a meal while you were there and you can also shop from the local people.the last stop was at a differnt beach were you can parasail, bananaride, swim, and jetski.(for a fee). Again Puerto Vallarta beautiful place to take a vacation and the hotel was excellent, be sure not to get a room on the street side of the hotel cause your in downtown Puerto Vallarta and you dont want the traffic noise keeping you up at night!

This place was great! The service was incredible and Gustavo & Bennie were good sports. We met several people who have come back many times and will continue to do so. It is close enough to walk downtown. It was worth it to upgrade to junior suites, you'll love sitting in the jacuzzi overlooking the ocean. I will go back there in a heart beat. They have a lot of activities and the locals like to vacation there as well. If you want to sit in a stuffy marble resort and only vacation with other Americans, this would not be the place for you. If you want to go have fun and bring the kids to experience some culture, then book it!
