Not worth the Price tag
By joanne, 6/18/10
The hotel was very grand in appearance and lovely in the public areas. Unfortunately the room did not live up to the price tag! The room was tired looking with wallpaper marked and torn, Windows were dirty as was the material on the soft furnishings. The safe did not work and the corridor had a distinct smell of animal (cat or dog) urine. The TV unit in the room did not face the Bed and there was only one small chair to sit on to watch it. No good when there was two of us! Staff were pleasant but guests looked at us with an air of snobbery, as we were a young couple that looks even younger. Almost felt as though we were an unwelcome sight by other guests as we were too young and would cause a disturbance. Not the hotels fault on this point but it was still an issue Not worth the money spent....

EXCEPTIONAL FIRST CLASS STAY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/29/07
We had the most wonderful stay at the King Edward last week. The staff were professional and extremely helpful and could not do enough for us, the room was again, wonderful - a great size and WOW! the beds... Sleeping here was an experience in itself - cloud like down pillows, beautiful fluffy duvets, luxuriously high thread count sheets, they have got all the boxes crossed. Food is beautiful, and the waiters are charm itself! Can't wait to return soon hopefully...

Wonderful experience, great hotel
By KathleenB, 6/2/07
Beautiful old world style hotel. The first floor bar was great for people watching as well as for food and drinks. The concierge was very helpful. Breakfast and lunch were excellent. The room was comfortable. The extra services were reasonably priced. The gift shop was overpriced and the TV was a little small for the size of the cabinet.

I'l stay again... and again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/3/05
I'd heard about this hotel numerous times, but the price led me to other area hotels which I've always found disappointing in one way or another. With every other downtown hotel fully booked, I gave it a try out of necessity. I was upgraded from a Royal Club Suite to an Executive Suite the first two nights. The Royal Club Lounge with complimentary wine, beer, and appetizers was perfect for entertaining clients- at no cost. The complimentary limo service downtown saved a lot of taxi fares. I'm not sure where the other reviewer stayed, but perhaps he made a wrong turn and ended up at the Days Inn. The service here was second to none and the furnishings quite comfortable. My next stay will be by choice. My first choice.

Not Worth It!
By Par_T_grl, 9/7/05
The hotel room wasn't clean. Stains on the chairs, bathroom didn't even look like it had been cleaned. However, there were some towels. They didn't replenish the toiletries. There wasn't enough space for 2, to put your clothes away in. There's a side door that can be accessed by ANYONE who wants to walk in (you don't need your door pass), doesn't feel too safe. 2 pillows for a king size bed. The view from the room was an alley with pigeon poop all over. The bellboys/staff just stood and watched as you came up with your luggage with no offer of help--no ramp, only stairs...which I struggled with lifting my luggage up it...and broke the wheel on my suitcase. Front desk girls were very pleasant as well as the currency exchange man. Great location, but there are other hotels (which I noted) to be around the same area. If you think you're going to this hotel for luxary, cleanliness, friendly atmosphere, elegance, or just "get what you paid for", I say find someplace else to stay! I'm highly disappointed!
