Nice Hotel, but Bad Value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/29/09
The benefit of this hotel is that it is separated from the more crowded and chaotic downtown area yet downtown is still close and easily accessible. Stanley Park is essentially right in your 'backyard'. Yaletown and Gastown (including Vancouver Lookout, Imax, etc) are a bit far to walk to, so expect to drive and pay for parking or take public transit to these areas. Vancouver is extremely bike-friendly so I would recommend renting a bike (plenty of rental places on Denman St near the hotel). You can easily bike all over the city and Stanley Park in a day. While the hotel itself is nice, I felt it was a bit over-priced. The entire staff was very courteous and helpful and the beds were heavenly. However the hotel 'nickels and dimes' you on everything. They charge little fees (phone calls, internet, automatically charging for newspaper) which will run up your entire bill very quickly. Hotel parking is in a parkade right across the street and I felt it was extremely expensive per day. Also be careful because our car got broken into while parked here. When reserving a room, we selected to have the 'marina view'. The majority of our view faced the high-rise section of the hotel and the roof of the lobby. You had to really stick your head out of the window (there was no balcony either) to get the marina and mountain view. While the location of the hotel and the inside of the room were very nice, I would not stay here again. I don't feel it was a good value, especially with all of the fees they add--parking being the worst.

Great View
By Dave, 10/02/07
Perfect Location on the Harbor across from Stanley Park. You can watch the Sea Planes as they land in the harbor. Nice view of the mountains as well. Several great restaurants within minutes of the hotel. (Walking)

Best Hotel I've Stayed At!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/21/06
It is the most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed at. It over looks the ocean and has Heavenly(TM) Beds. A five minute walk from Stanley park and a great lobby! I loved it!

Terrible Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/18/06
We were there for a long weekend. In the morning, there was no power, No Electricity in the room! I called the front desk, no one was answering the phone. I tried numerous times, and finally got through to their reservation center. They said they were going to check what was going on with the hotel, and they couldn't tell either. Finally, when I had gotten through to the operator, he said, they were doing a routine power surge. He said we should have been notified. We definately were not notified and did not know what was going on. When I asked to speak to the manager, he merely said, "everyone should have been notified, I don't know why you guys weren't". That is just not satisfactory! So basically, we were stuck in the room for a few hours in the dark. When power came back on, we quickly got in the elevator with our luggage to get out of the hotel. And we were stuck in the elevator! Finally, we had to take the elevator up to the 7th floor to be released out. And we carried our luggage down to the Lobby. The hotel did not offer to help.

First Class all the way
By Craddie, 11/29/05
This hotel is first class. Located right in the marina, the location is fantastic, although it's a 7 or 8 block walk (or bus) to Skytrain if that's your transportation. The hotel is gorgeous, with a huge foyer, decorated with marble and Maple everywhere. The restaurants were great, food and service both fantastic. My room was on the top floor corner overlooking the Harbour in front and the marina/downtown skyline to the side. The room was immaculate, beautifully appointed and had all of the comforts of home. I spent countless hours just looking out the wall-to-wall windows at the action in the harbour, watching boats, float planes coming in and leaving and hellicopters taking off and landing. The soundproofing was great too. In 12 nights I never heard cleaning staff or any neighbours. The room included thoughtful touches including Bathrobes, umbrella (good to have in Vancouver), Iron, coffee maker with Starbucks coffee etc... The bathroom was great, Westin's "Heavenly Bath" included gorgeous towels, robes and a luxurious dual shower-head. The Westin "Heavenly Bed" was also fantastic, I'm giving serious thought to ordering one online....never slept better. The only down-side would be the price for room service. I only ordered once, but a simple breakfast with taxes, gratuities etc.. came to a grand total of $34....ouch. The staff was fantastic, anything needed was attended to immediately in a friendly manner. I stayed at this hotel for 12 nights and never missed home, I could have stayed another month.

A perfect experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/05
The Bayshore's setting is spectacular, right next to Stanley Park in downtown Vancouver. The view is spectacular, and you are in the very middle of all that makes Vancouver a great place to visit. The two rooms we had were comfortable, nicely appointed, a roomy. The decor was very nice, and the beds fit contemporary high end standards: immaculate white bed linens and extremely comfortable. There is even a very nice loaner umbrella waiting in the closet. Service was exceptional, whether it was checking in, utilizing the concierge, or eating in one of the hotels.

Westin Bayshore is wonderful!
By TracyR, 07/11/05
The front desk and concierge service was great. They were very friendly and answered every question that we had. Location was very convenient, close to lots of sights. The view was great! All of the food we had at the hotel was good, if a bit over-priced. Room service was speedy and friendly. The beds are beyond comfortable!

Location, Location, Location!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/26/05
Great hotel, right on the water where you can watch the boats and sea planes come in. Rooms were great - the beds and sheets were worth the stay alone. Right on the path to Stanley Park where you can easily forget you are in a large city. Excellent restaurants within a short walk. Recommend taking a sea plane trip to Victoria, visit Grouse Mountain, and drive the Sea to Sky Highway up to Whistler.
