Togwotee Mountain Lodge, Moran

Our family of 5 stayed in one of the cabins and absolutely loved it. It was clean, cozy and had everything we needed or asked for. The staff was very nice and informative. Yes, it is a short drive from Jackson and the parks, but a beautiful one! We plan to visit again!

I guess the people who wrote the negative reviews below stayed in the cabins instead of in the actual hotel, because my family and I didn't have a negative experience at all. We arrived at the hotel really late after spending the day in Yellowstone, but I called the front desk to let them know that we wouldn't be in until after midnight, so the girl left an envelope with our room key and information outside of the office, which strangely closes at midnight (that's definitely one downside to the hotel), and she even drew a smiley face on the envelope. Haha. And when we entered our room, we thought it was simply adorable! Very spacious and clean and cute with all of the wooden accents. We also loved the fact that the bathroom and showers had DISPENSERS instead of small plastic bottles of shampoo, shower gel, lotion, etc. We're all about saving the earth, and small things like that really make a difference! It was a pretty expensive place to stay, but anything inside of Yellowstone would have cost us an extra hundred or two per night, and we were definitely on a budget, so $155 per night seemed fairly reasonable considering the area. I kind of wish that we would have went ahead and spent the extra money to stay inside of the park now, though, because Togwotee is actually quite a ways from the entrance of Yellowstone (driving time), but it was still a nice area to stay in. All in all, this is a very nice hotel that I'd recommend to pretty much anyone. :)

very expensive,very dirty and road was awful.neglected to tell us road to yellowstone was closed at night and up to an hour wait in the day.buffet style breakfast was cold and our "rustic natural view"from our cabin was of a bunch of broken down vans and snowmobiles.road construction will continue thru 2012 so we suggest you stay away unless you want tire damage.

Beware of renting snowmobiles! Insurance is a joke. paid extra for insurance and was billed $1200 for minor damages!

The staff was terrific. They were very attentive and polite, and made us feel welcome. The cabins were clean and comfortable. The drive to Yellowstone every day was tedious. Overall, the lodge was great.

We were traveling "night to night" without reservations with three children in tow in 2003 and had just left Yellowstone much later in the day than anticipated. All rooms and cabins within the park had been taken and upon checking at alodge between Yellowstone and Grand Teton found that unavailable also. One of the locals mentioned the "possibility" of Togwotee Mountain Lodge. We were getting desperate and would have stayed almost anywhere so imagine our surorise when God led us to one of the prettiest places on Earth, staffed by some of the nicest people. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable and spacious. The breakfast bar in the dining room the next morning was AWESOME and got us on our way with full stomachs and happy memories to enjoy the overwhelming scenery near the Continental Divide. Because we live 1800 miles away, we may never stay there again but would DEFINITELY reccomend this place to anyone travelling in the area!

We booked a night here because it was the only descent looking hotel between Cody and Jackson Hole. As it turns out - Togwotee exceeded all of my expectations (even after an exhausting day in Yellowstone). Clean "cabins" (calling them cabins doesn't really do them justice), more than adequate kitchenettes, clean bathrooms... the rooms were fine. Was it the Park Hyatt? No... but it certainly was better than anything in Cody, and it had more character than most in Jackson. The downside? If you're just stopping over night en-route to Jackson Hole, it's worth spending an extra day at Togwotee. The staff seemed nice - they've got horse back riding, biking, and other outdoor activities – it seems like a fun place. Unfortunately, we were on a tight schedule and needed to get to Jackson before flying out of Idaho Falls, and we just had the night. The next time I go out west, I’ll plan to say an extra day or two at Togwotee.

We booked our stay in August because they said over the phone that they were between the two parks and that we could easily go to Yellowstone or Grand Teton NP. Not the case. They are east of Moran down a gravel road under construction. 40 mile drive from Grand Teton and 1 1/2 hrs from Yellowstone. While checking in they handed us a flier warning of altitude sickness. Most of the family was not feeling well within hours even after just spending 3 days in Yellowstone. After getting tired of the drive to get anywhere, we asked to check out one day early. Management was unflexible and would not refund any part of the last night's fee. They also charged us for the wagon ride we cancelled. The room was dirty. I killed three bugs within 5 minutes of entering. The batteries in the tv remote were dead and the front desk did not have any replacements. Motel 6 in Jackson would be a better choice.

Might be OK for winter snowmobile lodge, but as far I'm concerned as a summer lodge it's now on my never to return list. Overpriced, too far from parks, too far from Jackson, rooms needed updated 20 yrs ago, housekeeping incredibly bad, restaurant not good and not open for lunch, no A/C and it does reach 90's in summer. One positive note: the front desk staff, although obviously lacking in experience, were very pleasant. I strongly suggest you find something in one of the parks or in Jackson.

My wife and I came to Togwotee on our honeymoon in September 2002 just after Hurrricane Francis paid us a visit. We actually found Togwotee on the internet as we were in the midst of our planning and opted for Togwotee only due to the location. The airport in Orlando was closed until Tuesday (we were to arrive in WY on Monday -so we got a late start. NO PROBLEM with Togwotee! Once we arrived the room we booked was undergoing renovation! Again - NO PROBLEM - we were upgraded to a private cabin! Then we find out it's the slow season - we expect poor service. Boy, were we wrong! We were made to feel so very special we were actually feeling spoiled! We were able to access the Tetons, Yellwstone and Jackson with no problem! I will say that when you get your rental car, get a CONVERTABLE - you won't be sorry if you're looking to take pictures! The scenery is incredible! Also, do take a trip into Jackson to the grocery for some supplies to keep and cook in the cabin (if you care to) - it's like a home away from home. BE AWARE THAT YOU WILL BE IN BEAR COUNTRY - SO BE RESPECTFUL OF YOUR TRASH AND YOUR HOSTS! (The game wardens trapped a female grizzley while we were there - and yes, we were told she was around when we arrived). Do take advantage of the offered outings as you want - you will have a great time and take with you lifetime memories! Hope this helps!
