Never "hold" a room with a debit card

I have never in my life had such a bad experience than I have had (and still having 1 mo later) than with this hotel. I had to use my debit card to "hold" my room, as I was paying cash. They assured me (oh...after my reservations was not found) that my card would not be charged...well after paying cash on check out day....2 days later, my bank account was overdrawn, they had charged me twice and wasn't supposed to charge me at all. The hotel did reverse both charges, however refused to refund the overdraft fees they caused. I am not having any luck with this Bluefield hotel, so I'm going corporate.
I also feel as if the rates for this location was extremely over priced.
