Unpleasant experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/28/11
My husband & I stayed here for one night. We requested a quiet room since we are seniors so we retire early & get up early. Shortly after settling into room 309 we heard children screaming & loud banging coming from the unit next door. When we checked the hall we saw 3 children's bikes, a young teenager banging on a door across the hall & on the floor, right beside the elevator, was a plastic sheet heaped with green leaves & a large smelly casserole. The fire door was propped open & a group of young men were using it to enter the 2 units. I phoned the desk and was told there was a group living there & that usually they would quiet down after the desk phoned. At this point I insisted on another room. I couldn't believe this situation. A group of people with noisy children and pungent cooking odors living in this motel. What is this all about? We will never return.

Can't wait to go back.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/9/10
I loved the room because where it was located. On the ground floor. It was nice to be able to get a good nights sleep while there. The bed was nice and soft. I loved the wide bathtub also. The coffee that was in the room didn't taste like coffee. We love Folgers. We will be back.

It's worth the 2 mile drive south
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/6/08
It may be two-miles from the shopping area but its worth the drive. The room was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. They had a great breakfast--much more than donuts and coffee.

Stayed here two nights while on vacation. Nice clean room, nice price, and my dog got to stay in room as well. I'll be back.

Just keep driving...
By RodneyM, 12/7/06
I stayed the Best Western in Summersville on 11/25/06. Pets are allowed, but you are required to stay in a smoking room. You could smell the smoke even before the door was opened. Once inside, it was unbearable. (A trip to Wal-Mart for some Frebreeze helped, but the next day all of clothes smelled like smoke.) I complained to the front and was advised that it was company policy for pets to stay in smoking rooms and yes, they stink. The carpet in the room was stained, the vents on the heating/air unit were broken, towels were thin and frayed on the ends, the room was dimly lit, toilet paper holder was thin rusted metal, and an empty candy wrapper was found under the edge of the bed. The "hearty breakfast" mentioned on the website consisted of frozen waffles, frozen egg shape, cold biscuits, gravy, and a microwave to heat everything up yourself. I will never stay at this place again.

Boycott Summersville
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/18/06
Probably the most likely place in West Virginia to meet a living, breathing Canadian... I guess the bottom line is that while Manny runs a cheap, basic, no-frills motor lodge with a tasty continental breakfast, this establishment, along with all other Summersville businesses, should be avoided by tourists! The Summersville cops have been sticking it to folks coming through WV's most famous speed trap for years. As long as city officials continue to generate revenue through this method, I refuse to patronize any Summersville business.. If I need gas or grub, I get it at Oak Hill or Birch River. If I need lodging, I'll drive to Beckley.

Unless you have a pet with you don't stay here..
By CAROLYN HOLDREN, 7/6/05
The best thing I can say for this motel is good location. They allowed pets which is great for people traveling with them but this was July 4th weekend and we had no other choice. It sounded like there was a horse above us that kept running in circles all night (it was a huge dog). We called the office hoping they would do something but to no avail. When we first entered the room we could tell by the smell that animals had stayed there. There was no ice in the ice machine, no fridge, no microwave but yet the price was high enough for a 5 star motel. I've checked their rates since then and they are exactly half of what we were charged for the one night. We would not go back there!
