Earthbox San Juan Island Motel and Spa, Friday Harbor

We had the unfortunate experience of paying $175 for a room that made me vomit because of its smell! Now to be fair, I booked our room within a week of our trip and had to take the 'left-over'hovel, so that was my mistake. But these "economy queen" rooms are not fit for human habitation. I've paid $40 for rooms that would compare to this place. Even more astounding is the lovely shower gel holder that was duct taped to our shower wall with a note written in crayon that said "do not touch until glue dries". When informed, the management did take the tape and the sign down and were apologetic. What they couldn't do anything about was the STENCH in the room!! The beds and bedding were inhorrible shape. THe pillows were flat and free of comfort! But the smell was the worst! We got in pretty late and fell to sleep fast. Upon waking I went for a walk into town. When I returned and opened the door the smell was so bad in comparison to the outside air that I vomitted! At checkout the desk clerk asked how the stay was. When I informed him of how awful it was, he said, "well that was an economy queen'. $175- ECONOMY!?!?!? I don't think so. I've paid less for rooms at Ritz Carltons! These people are absolute gougers and should be avoided unless you have no sense of smell or financial savvy! I told the desk clerk I was going to write this review to which he replied "that's too bad". Stay somewhere else, this place needs to be shut down!!!
