Won't go back!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/18/11
If you want to be real surprised, just stay here and you won't believe this pit! 3 channels worked on a manual old 1980's tv, no sink in the bathroom so needless to say you get to wash in the main room. floor dirty. outside deck covered in ?not sure all along the rails so you cant actually rest your arms on it. opened a pack of creamer/powder for the coffee....big mistake, it was so outdated that the creamer was condensed and not in powder form anymore!! ended up going to nice coffee shop. indoor pool has paint chips all over the floor from the "repainting" and hot tub so hot we couldnt stay in over about 3 minutes. Cant believe i didnt look at the room before purchasing it! Nasty place. sorry but just being honest here. Truly needs torn down and seen it's better days......:((((

What a place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/23/10
I have to say after reading the reviews I was diappointed. I travel alot and have stayed in a number of places over the years. I go to the lodge nearly every weekend I absolutely love it there. The is tranquility and peacefulness there. I love the fact that they are animal friendly as I take my animal with me all the time and I will tell you right now there are limited places to stay with you animals. I own credits for worldmark and the facility at long beach will not allow me to stay there with my dog, It just fries me that I own a membership that I can't use because I own a dog. I have never been turned away at the Chautauqua Lodge for having a dog even when she was young and barked more than I liked there was never a complaint. I really enjoy the hot tub and pool. I just found out that the sauna is fixed, I am looking forward to staying there this weekend if the snow does not stop me.

Disgusting!!!!!!
By SWhite, 8/24/10
All the good reviews were prob posted by the owners of this joint. This place was gross. I kept my shoes on at all times. Our carpet was old and dirty, our balcony was molded beyond belief, our TV was from 1977 (seriously), black stuff flew out of the jets in the tub. This place needs updating bad both of our allergies went haywire due to the decades of dust and skin flakes hiding in the room. We literally were itching every time we were in the room. The only positive was that it was on the beach. Worst place ever!!!!!! Do not stay there!!!!!!

The Best at the Beach
By Bud Swift, 11/18/09
Chautauqua was awesome! Growing up on the Oregon coast you learn not to have "high expectations" when you go to the coast. There are no 5 Star resorts, and if there were knowone would stay there. I've stayed at the other places in Long Beach and this place has (by far) the best view, a large indoor pool with Sauna and Hot Tubs, a game room, and even WiFi internet. I was able to take care of business while on vacation. The Anchor Restaurant is a great hidden secret. Large portions and great food, along with a full bar and live misic when we were there in the Summer. I really like it here in the Winter. I enjoy watching the stormy ocean waves and curling up next to the Electric fireplace. I know from past experiences that you "get what you pay for". Some of the older rooms at this place need upgrading. Pay the extra money and stay in one of the Deluxe Suites. Newly remodeled kitchens, tile floor in bathroom and kitchen. Deluxe rooms have better (more upgraded) furnishings. Both TV's had cable (in room 208) and kitchen was well stocked with dishes. I recommend that you stay here, BUT SPEND THE EXTRA $$$ FOR A REMODELED SUITE. YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID.

wonderful place
By BJ, 11/10/09
We had stayed here a couple of years ago and it was fine but needed a little updating. Decided to go back and was pleasantly surprised at the progress being made to update several of the suites and the hotel rooms. I can't imagine the upkeep needed with a facility like this being right on the coast and exposed to all of the toughest weather. There seems to have been a change of management since we were last there as the staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has new management and the food is very good with a good price. I am surprised at some of the poor reviews that I see. Do what we did and give it another chance.

Suite 108- old, musty,dirtyfloors.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/18/09
Definitly false advertising from their website. The "Suite" we had #108 was old, only one tv had cable that worked, the floor was gross, cupboards felt sticky from god only knows what, the hot water would work off an on and when it did work it was scalding. Not safe for small children by any means. Apparently these "suites" are privately owned and the decor/ammenities are kept up by the owners, so shame on you owners of suite #108. Also the heated indoor pool was kept at a steamy 68'. Will never stay there again and hope most will choose the same. I do have to say the staff was nice, not helpful but nice.

Large Family,Army Budget,None better on Pacific!
By I run this Bich, 6/23/09
I have a large family and am forced to rent 2 suites in any other hotel I stay in on the coast. I obviously must save a considerable amount of money in order to take my family on a trip. Now, keep in mind I have stayed in Hotels all along the entire pacific coast and when my wife and I found Chautaqua we were sceptical. Our first stay was in the Summer of 08 and we were thrilled. The price along with the fact that they give an excellent military discount was well within my budget. This allowed my family and I to enjoy more of long beach and stay longer on both our trips. Quite by chance I received the exact same room on my second stay and it was obvious that they are continually improving the rooms. The cookware was new and the room treatments had been updated. If you have a bad attitude you will receive negative results. they have a positive attitude and are very clear on their lobby times and capabilities when you check in. I reserved the room a month in advance and they called us one week out to inform us that the pool would be closed. Upon check out they gave me an additional 10% discount above my military rate!! I have never in 41 years been able to get 2 discounts on one bill anywhere and they gave it to me without asking! THAT IS UNRIVALED SERVICE, I DON"T CARE WHO YOU ARE. The restaraunt and bar are clean good food and friendly atmosphere. I intend to distribute their flyers to the ITT travel office on Ft. Lewis and tell all the soldiers that I know that if they want a good room with a great view and excellent service at a soldiers budget then Chautauqua is THE JOINT!

Birthday Weekend
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/2/09
I hated it. False advertising for a suite for sure. Old/musty/dirty...dog hair on bathroom floor., now that's digusting! I would have left on the spot if it weren't for my hubby. Didn't ever walk around without shoes.....shudder!Hubby was the only great thing about the place, besides the location. Would not reccomend nor ever go back. Do yourself a favor and just trust me on this one. Go elsewhere.....

A life time of memories ruined
By melindam, 2/4/09
We arrived to the hotel with our 5 young children on what we hoped would be a great family vaction....it was the worst we've ever had. My husband and I grew up going on vactions at Chautauqa Lodge, we thought we could share those great memories with are children. Instead we got rude staff, a cold pool, moldy bathrooms, and a broken toliet. We asked for a refund so we could get another room at a different location and the lady told me that they don't give refunds. This was after 15 minutes in the room! Please save yourself from this bad experience and stay somewhere else. We moved up the road to another hotel to enjoy our week. I'll never stay there again!!!
