A Gem! A Real Find!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/27/11
This beautifully kept hotel is right in downtown Williamsburg and is a true gem of a find. A local friend made the reservation for me. The first thing that impressed me was that they actually had a bellman on staff, waiting to help with luggage when I arrived. Next, the beautifully appointed lobby and courteous staff was right on target. Southern hospitality at its subtle best. The room was tasteful, spacious, clean and the beds were very comfortable. If I had known how nice the accommodations were, I would have planned to stay longer. All this for a price competitive with the many mediocre hotel chains one usually finds. I plan to stay here again when I visit my friend in Williamsburg.

Terrible room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/11
Our room was dingy and smelled strongly of mildew. When notified of this, the hotel did nothing, wouldn't give us a different room, and put in an air freshener which accomplished nothing at all. The hotel corridors are poorly lit and the entire place needs a good cleaning. Good location, but there are much better hotels in the area.

Small TV and Double beds
By Bear Johnson, 4/23/11
Location is great since our daughter attends William & Mary( freshman year)however beds are double, not queen. TV is the size of my computer screen maybe 20 inch. Also no free wi fi? You are paying $100 night and have to use their free wi fi in lobby. Do they realize it is 2011 ?

Excellent Location, Wonderful Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/23/10
Highly recommend this hotel. The location is excellent--within walking distance of Colonial Williamsburg. We stayed there when our daughter graduated from the College of William & Mary and it was perfect!!! We could walk across the street to all the graduation activities, stroll to the Farmer's Market in Merchant's Square, and walk down Duke of Gloucester street without moving our car. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the service was excellent. I would definitely stay here again!!!

Would not stay here again
My wife and I stayed here on a Thursday and Friday evening. When I called to make reservations I asked if this was a place where families with young children (ours are 6 and 8) could stay comfortably. I was assured that families such as our stay here all the time. The check-in staff was nice enough though we waited for a bit in a line to check-in. We waited again for the sole bell-hop and sole cart to take our bags upstairs. No worries, we were patient. Thursday night, there was significant noise in the courtyard from some young folks enjoying themselves outside. Again, we made do, realizing that you can't always expect everyone else to adjust to your schdule. Friday night is what did us in. The hotel placed us on the 2nd floor just around the corner from a hospitality suite where a loud party was going on complete with music. By 10pm, the party was thumping and we asked a few of the participants to keep it down. They informed us that, sorry, the hotel had assured them they could go late with their party. The hotel staff the next day informed us that they had had many complaints, but I gather that the physical layout of the hotel makes it difficult for them not to rent out this space in the evenings. They did not give us a discount or anything other than an apology. Bottom line - if you are expecting good sleep, I would not stay here, especially not on the weekend and not close to this hospitality suite on the 2nd floor. It's unfortunate, because otherwise it's a great location, fairly clean, nice staff, etc.. But a good night's sleep is a prerequisite for any stay, an expectation this hotel did not meet.

Great value for a vacation package
By Cindy Brown, 8/20/09
We select WHH as part of our vacation package every time we visit Williamsburg. I can't recommend the place highly enough! The value is excellent and the location is perfect, right in the middle of everything so it's worth spending just a little more than a budget hotel. It's clean, friendly, tastefully-decorated, and the rooms are nice and cool in summer. We love that we can park our car in the underground garage (low ceiling not suited for trucks and SUVs but there's a reserved lot as well) and that the hotel is within walking distance to downtown and the historic district. The walk there is absolutely lovely and pedestrian friendly too! The fitness center is minimal but had just enough for us to get a quick circuit workout in before heading out for the day. I'm grateful that the hotel even offers one. My husband loves playing the classic arcade games offered on the lower level as well and usually cuts his workout short to go do that while I finish up. The pool is a super nice touch. It's lap-swimming worthy but we spend a good bit of time splashing and floating around after long, hot days at Busch Gardens or touring around the historic sites. Private, clean, and towel service is offered so you don't have to use the bath towels. Nice. The drive to the amusement park is 10 - 15 minutes but we always stop at Sammy & Nicks Pancake House on the way there so I guess it takes a little longer. YUM! (Pecan waffles, all the way) I don't mind the tad bit longer drive because there's so much to do back at the hotel area, it makes it worth it. What we like best is the bar just around the bend on Scotland Street that is a great locals/student hangout serving microbrews and hand pumped ale! We were probably the oldest folks in the place (late 30s) but we didn't mind. If we needed any little snacks or sodas, there's a WaWa a couple of blocks down. Best hotel in Williamsburg and a great value when booking a vacation package.

Very Convenient and Pleasant Place to Stay
By Dsires, 7/26/09
I picked this place off the internet with the intention of spending a few days relaxing and taking in Colonial Williamsburg and Historic Jamestown. It was convenient to many different types of restaurants (as well as having a nice one on site). The room was a good size and the staff was helpful and friendly. While the school was not in session when I was there, I can see where this would be a favorite place for anyone visiting a student there. The wifi was part of a charge service (like lots of other hotels) and was a bit unreliable, but I don't think that downgraded my experience at all.

My Favorite Place to Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/08
The HH is a great place to stay. Its location is ideal. It is across the street from the College of William and Mary and a short walk to Colonial Williamsburg and Merchant Square. There are lots of great restaurants nearby including their restaurant in the hotel. The rooms are beautiful and very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Like I said- it is my favorite place to stay!

It's so convenient!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/08
We love how this hotel is so close to our daughter on the W&M campus so that she can walk to us and come take a shower in a clean bathroom. We also love to just park our car for the weekend and be able to walk to Merchant square and any place on campus without driving. It's great to be albe to walk across the street for football games. The Hospitality House is always our first choice for Williamsburg. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. The brunch on Sundays is a perfect way to end the trip and feed a hungry college student.
