5 reviews for Quality Inn And Suites, Ashland
Greedy, cruel to animals
By AndriaM, 08/26/08
This hotel advertises that they are "pet friendly," but they were anything but. I have an older dog who is very mellow and loves people. I thought she should be fine at the hotel, as long as no one opens the room's door because I didn't want her escaping to the highway. I kept the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. When I left the hotel to go to a nearby attraction, the hotel called me within an hour of my departure saying that my dog was running around the hotel, and that she "left herself out of the room." My dog has not been trained to open door knobs and pull open doors - housekeeping staff let her out. The hotel told me that it took 5 people to corral her back into my room. When I returned to the hotel, I found that my dog tore a piece of carpet by the door. She has NEVER been destructive any my home or anywhere else. The only explanation is that they terrorized my dog so much that she was traumatized. Two days later my credit card was charged $600. The hotel insisted that I replace the entire room's carpet because they no longer had samples of the "old carpet." They charged this without my authorization. The Better Business Bureau contacted them, to whom the hotel responded that I signed the check-in agreement that stated that I would be financially responsible for all damages caused by my pet. Do not take your pet to this hotel - they will terrorize your pet, and find excuses to charge you so that the rooms can be renovated at your expense and not theirs.

A Real Movie Horror Hotel Experience!
By ???, 07/23/07
The Pros: the hotel lotion had a nice scent and the proximity to Kings Dominion Amusement park is approximately 5 kilometers - that is all I have to say positive about this establishment. The Cons: 1. Staff (I sensed that the staff were not empowered to think for themselves and that even simple decisions had to approved but this could be my perception); we left personal items like tooth paste, lotion, etc. and when we arrived the second day the staff had disposed of them (I am hoping that is what they did). 2. Dirty rooms: there were stains on the walls. The bathroom tub was backed up when we showered. The rooms are in need of a major overhaul. 3. Dirty linens: this was really bad! We had towels that didn't appear clean. 4. Run down overall appearance: the carpet looked as though they were from the 70's 5. Inoperative equipment: the phone in the "living room" didn't work. Various lamps and wall switches didn't work. Various light bulbs didn't work. The remote controls for the televisions were literally falling apart. Some of them were missing the back portion that covered the battery so they kept falling out. Actual experiences: For example, I ordered a roll away bed for two days. When we returned to the hotel for the second night, the bed had been removed. The online charge for the roll away bed was $10.00 per night (this was at the Quality Inn site):yet, they wanted to charge me $15.00/night rather than honoring the price that I agreed to via their website (this may seem like I am being picky but remember this is supposed to be a hospitality industry). The so called "suite" was simply two adjacent rooms, one of which was converted to a make shift living room with a microwave and a sink. There were no vending machines other than for soda. On the bright side there was a nice restaurant called Perkins that had very pleasant staff. They have Russian waitresses who are very friendly and the food is decent (not the best but not the worst). And parking was ample probably because enough people were smart enough to avoid the hotel. Clearly whoever is running this place is sucking every dime out of it and not putting anything back into the place to keep it reasonably current. Without a doubt, this was the absolute worst hotel experience I have ever had in my life. If I were a canine, PETA would have protested because of cruelty to animals! This place is bad and should be avoided (I rarely write reviews but in this case I felt an obligation to protect some person who would be traveling there with his or her family and who would not know any better). Run...

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/05/06
Worst hotel stay ever!!!! The rooms are old and filthy and falling apart. The toilet had urine all over the seat and there was coffee left in the coffee pot from the previous guest. The bed was so uncomfortable that I didn't get much sleep. Staff doesn't answer the telephone and when you want to check in or out you have to stand at the desk forever waiting for some assistance. They have high speed internet but dont for get your cat5 cable cause they ask for a $100 deposit!!! I paid less for the room. If your a choice privileges member with choice hotels your entiled to a 2pm check out upon request well not here! I called the desk and asked for a 2pm check out and I was told NO!!! I would of rather slept in the car than in this dump.

Adequate accommodations
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/21/06
Liked the outside/inside access. Place was clean, but somewhat worn. King bed was firm and comfortable. Service was good, people friendly. We had difficulty getting inteernet access to work. People were helpful, but still unable to connect. One reason we chose this place was it advertised wireless internet.

Not a pleasant stay...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/20/05
The hotel has suites but the bedrooms are in the front and the living room is in the back? It should be the other way around. You need to wake people to go in and out or just to go to the bathroom. Not smart planning.... Also, the mamger was rude. He told us on the phone that he could arrange for ours and our friends room to be side by side. When we got there he said he wouldn't. The beds and blankets are outdated. They charged nearly $200 a night for the Nascar weekend.... The internet site says they are a mile from the Richmond raceway. They're not. More like 15 miles. But the race was the only thing that made the weekend pleasant.
