Barclay Towers Resort Hotel, Virginia Beach

The Management was responsible for having our vehicle towed, When the tow company pulled our vehicle from Barclay's parking lot with Barclay parking ticket in plain view, when towing co. called the hotel, They didn't even have us listed as a guest when in fact we had paid for 4 days at their motel, My husband had to walk 3 miles to get our vehicle . We have a copy of the tow trucks ticket & on the ticket it plainly states that the management had the vehicle towed & it was also BarClay's Towers mess up. The management said that all they could do was give us one night free for the mistake . They totally ruin our VACATION. We had 2 children with us that was very upset, we had planned on going out that evening to dinner, needless to say that didn't happen. We checked in on Aug.13th,2008, & paid for 4 nights, on Aug.14th Barclay Towers had our vehicle towed. Needless to say the rest of our stay was totally ruin never knowing if when we went to get in our vehicle if it was going to be there or not. Barclay Towers would not refund any of our money that we had paid for the rooms , only one night did they give us for free, & I don't feel like that was enough---- We will not stay at there Hotel again. Whom ever reads this please beware that this could happen to you also.

No smoking not even on the balconies!!!!!!! this is a first...im used to non smoking hotels in my travels,but to tell a guest who paid to much in the first place that they cant even smoke on the balcony is perposterous and then some!!!!!!!!! other than that a nice old hotel...

Haven't been to this beach in 35 years so the changes were striking. This hotel was a great find. True, it shows signs of age, but who doesn't. It was clean, warm and the folks were friendly. I'd go back anytime.

The heated pool and whirlpool made it worth the trip even in the middle of winter! It was nice to wake up to the view and sound of waves. Wish I could go more often.

The rate was great for such a large clean room with so many other amenities such as a kitchen and living room. We only stayed one night but were able to make our dream come true - we had a romantic getaway and carved pumpkins and roasted pumpkin seeds...all in our room! Great location on the beach, great oceanfront view, plenty of space and comforts. And an oven, in case you want to roast pumpkin seeds!

Well, if you don't mind waking up to a mouse trying to get into bed with you, then you will not have any problems staying here. The best part about this was when I explained this to the manager, he offered us a mouse trap to put in our room. By the way, we stayed on the 3rd floor. We were never offered another room or a discount and we will never return !

Just returned from a week at Barclay Towers. The staff were friendly and very helpful when needed. Check in was smooth even though we were early. The hotel facilities were just as they were described. No surprises. We booked sight unseen, so this was a great relief. The indoor pool is a bit of a disappointment, but we were aware it was indoor before we booked. The rooms were clean, spacious, and just as described. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment, though we didn't cook. The king size bed was a nice change from the typical full/queen at most hotels. The bathroom was very clean and did not smell musty/moldy as most hotel bathrooms do. The staff kept us in plenty of clean linens and were very cheerfully responsive to our needs. We would definately stay here again and recommend Barclay Towers very highly.

The hotel itself was excellent, very clean, decor was excellent, rooms were up to date and roomy. The bedrooms were comfortable, nicely furnished. The living room was comfortable until you tried sleeping on the queensize mattresses, they are in need of replacement, I got 4 rooms and each room, the same thing, the queensize sofabed matresses are awlful, they were torn, springs protruding and thin. Please replace sofabed mattresses. I will definately stay at this hotel again, but I will not sleep on the sofabed.

The checkin: We had driven all night, staff assured us it will be soon. Soon turned into an hour. we asked again. We were directed to the damp,cold, musty and leaking roof pool.The staff being less than hospitable.Upon getting our room the carpeting was wet. The air conditioner leaked. They sent a fan up after many requests (a day later) The did nothing, it started to smell. We were told there were no other rooms available.We were welcome to try another hotel(no openings)Staff was not helpful at checkin, at breakfast they were to busy chatting for questions. The elevator was always full(with staff moving linen carts) and we often had to wait.The cleaning staff showed up occasionally not everyday and on on occasion asked us to leave the room cause she her ride was waiting. No one said I'm sorry,or thank you they didn't even smile. I would look elsewhere! We have never been back.
