Memories..both good and bad....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/07/07
We discoverd the Palmer House many years ago and have wonderful memories of sitting on the porch and drinking wine, eating cheese and playing Scrabble. (We rented the whole house) It is far from perfect, though! The woman at the desk had an attitude that actaully made us wonder if we would ever return again after going there at a minimum of 10 times! However, as past guests, there is a special and we decided to give them another chance. If the people who work there are lovely, you can accept a whole lot more than when they behave as if you are lucky to be there! More to come after our next trip in June! (Hope they cleaned out the scummy green water in that little pondy thing in front of the buildings!)

Deceptive
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/30/06
The hype does not come close to the reality with the Palmer House. The only thing it has going for it is the location, but other nicer and less expensive choices are just as convenient, if not more so. If they were honest, didn't claim to be a "resort" (which is a sham), and their prices were more in keeping with a modest, old motel, it would be acceptable. The woman behind the desk had a nasty attitude when we were there in Fall 06. The only way this place is a resort is as a "last resort"!

Won't ever return
By Pete, 11/19/06
Poor service, no hot water (and didn't fix it), shower broken (and didn't fix it). There are lots of choices in Manchester; don't bother with this one. Their web site looks wonderful, but it's really just a 1960s-era roadside motel badly in need of some updates. Very overpriced.

love it! Clean clean clean
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/08/06
This is really a motel resort! Great location and very unexpectedly clean and well furnished alot to do when just relaxing on the premises. Golf, Hot tub, Huge pool indoors. Out door pool not open when we visited. Also a hot tub outside open in June - We went in May A relaxing walking trail with a stocked fish pond and much more to speak of along with a great location and beautiful views. We stayed in a Motel room Very roomy with lots of windows. They offer other types of accommodations that are a bit more upscale but worth it. We paid 85 dollars and found this to be well worth it!

No kids under age 12?
By J, 02/11/06
That is a ridiculous rule. It isn't like we are talking about a 5-star hotel since the Palmer House is basically a motel. Their reasoning is that there were no fences around the pool and it was for insurance reason. Well, guess what...we wanted to stay there in February to do some skiing and not lounge around a pool. We took our business elsewhere and wouldn't recommend the place even to people who have older kids since there are many nicer places available in Manchester.

Nicer than expected
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/07/05
I sprang the extra cash for a suite and must say it was well worth it. What a lovely place! The room was big, the decorating very tasteful, and other amenities, especially the indoor pool, were outstanding. Thanks, Palmer House, for a romantic evening!

Something for everyone!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/20/05
Golf, swimming, hiking, jacuzzi hot tub, continental breakfast, free cleaning equipment to accommodate the antique and classic car enthusiast, what's not to like!? It's very popular, so reserve early and often! Gracious, old-world etiquette and pinache. Only sorry we couldn't stay longer each time.
