Butternut Inn Nightmare
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/15/06
My husband & I recently stayed at the Butternut Inn in Stowe, VT for our last getaway before our first child. Upon arrival, we were a bit disappointed by the smell and overall condition of the inn. Apparently, there was some type of plumbing issue that occurred the night before and the second floor had collapsed into the base level. The whole downstairs was completely unusable which was understandable given the circumstances. However, our room was dirty, meaning the comforter had dirt on it, there were dead flies in the bathroom and it was very dusty. The bed was hard as a rock and very uncomfortable. Since we were staying at a bed and breakfast, we expected breakfast but never received it. The first day we told Parker we would not be having breakfast and never saw him again as well as we were never offered breakfast again. His wife, Janis, was not around we never even met her. Overall, there was never anyone around. I would NOT by any means recommend this inn to anyone. It was a very disappointing experience esp. since we were the only people staying there.
