One Of The Best Meals We've Ever Had!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/16/08
Since their renovation in March, the hotel is sparkling new with a 1920's ambience and maintains the feeling of the era with it's period light fixtures and cozy feel. Personally we were delighted that a lot of the gorgeous paneling as well as the stately marble floors were recycled. We ate at their Bullo Restaurant and must say that it was one of the finest meals we've ever had. The restaurant staff was exceedingly attentive and made us feel royal. We ran into a newlywed couple who was staying in the Bridal Suite there and they raved over not only the room but the little extras that the hotel provided. Our daughter and her fiance have decided to hold their wedding reception-dinner in the Grand Salon Room which was the perfect size for their event of about 50-60 people. What a great hotel! Don't listen to the reviews that were dated in 2006...go experience for yourself since their $36 million renovations.

What a dump!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/24/06
WARNING!!! The hotel was presented as a fine historic hotel. What I found was an old hotel in need of major renovation. Arrived to find a nice lobby and marginally friendly staff. Walked into my room and found a dump. Lights and lamps not working, junk old furniture falling apart. Curtains rotting on the windows. Poor plumbing and heating. But worse of all, a horrible bed with cheap old sheets and pillows. Worse night sleep in a long time. There were 15 others staying in the hotel with the same comments. Stay at any $ 29.00 a night hotel and get a better night sleep.

Fantastic experience!
By Kimberly, 08/10/06
We chose this hotel to celebrate our 20th anniverary, and it was an excellent choice! They made us feel like royalty the minute we arrived on property. We stayed in a "honeymoon suite," and it was beautiful and very nicely appointed, from the marble floor in the bathroom to the separate living/dining room to the comfortable four-poster bed. The room A/C worked great, and noticed no noise from outside. The hotel is beautiful, and if you get a chance, ask for the tour to see the "mistress room," the Elvis suite, and the penthouse (which is where they now do wedding receptions and such)--very interesting, and the views from the penthouse are incredible. We ate dinner and breakfast in the 1923 restaurant, and both were excellent in service and quality!! The breakfast waitress (Minnie) has been with the hotel for over 30 years, and she is a delight! I highly recommend this hotel. I can't wait to go back for our next anniversary. I will recommend this hotel to all my friends and family.

Wonderful Stay
By Stacy, 07/26/06
My boyfriend surprised me by taking me here under their "Romance Package." It was great from the start. When we arrived there was champagne, strawberries and beautiful pink roses in our room. (We had the Executive King Room) It was a little warm but you can control the temp in your room unlike what someone else said. We got room service for dinner and breakfast and the food arrived promptly and was delicious. One setback... there is construction on a new building going on across the street and could be heard at 7:30 in the morning but that is in no way the hotels fault. And the views are amazing! We loved our stay and we will eventually be having our Wedding Reception there! HIGHLY recommend!!!!

Awful Hotel- STAY AWAY!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/17/06
This hotel was extremely noisy and outdated. My phone was not working, Josh a shuttle driver was rude and obnoxious. The shower water was not regulated so be careful if you stay here. I was taking a shower and the water was fine until it came out so hot that my back was hurting. I proceeded to finish my shower and when I was greeted with cold, cold water. The room temperature is also a problem, I was so cold that I had to wrap myself up with two blankets. I called downstairs several times but my calls were ignored. I must say that management was very attentive after I complained about Josh's behavior. What I don't understand is why he was put up in the front desk. Needless to say when I checked out Josh was at the front counter. I thought that he was to the point but professional. That is until I got up to my room. I told him that I was checking out but needed to get back into the room to get my luggage. Well, I got up to the 8th floor and I could not get in. Yes, he deactivated my card. I can not say that he did that on purpose but to me it was obvious that he had. So I had to come back down to the reception desk to activate my card. Josh was no longer there it was the manager who helped me. I was too tired to inform them of what had just occured and did not say a thing. In my opinion Josh was upset since I had talked to management about his behavior. But I felt that it was important for them to know of his unprofessionalism. Not only was he disrespectful but he proceeded to share his story with the ladies up in the front desk. The two girls listened to his story and laughed behind the counter all while looking at the person who had just complained. Yes, they were laughing at me. I do not recommend this hotel unless you want to stay were it is old, noisy, and have SOME rude employees.

Very Disappointed!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/17/06
My husband and I planned a short get away to Dallas and thought it would be fun to stay in this historical hotel. Serious mistake! The bed was beyond uncomfortable, it was too hot to sleep, pillows were dreadful, old furniture was dirty, and we had no hot water. The staff tried to accomodate our complaints, but nothing basically changed. We checked out a day early and returned home due to sheer exhaustion. Don't ever stay at this hotel.

Do NOT Choose This Hotel.....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/29/06
My father came to stay in Dallas on business for one night. He did not sleep the entire night due to the extremely hot tempurature of his room. Opening the windows did not help. He was also unable to take a warm shower - cold water only. Thought this would be a charming vintage hotel but it is simply just old and ratty. I only gave them a "2" Service rating because they completely refunded his room. Don't go!!

disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/15/06
Had reservations for 3 nights, checked in and took forever to get luggage to room. At 10:00 p.m., got ready for bath, no hot water, used the toliet and toliet seat broke, took towel off of towel rack and it fell to the floor. Needless to say, we checked the next a.m. Was charged $149.00 per night.

stoneleigh hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/05
we have just visited texas for the first time staring in Houston and touring around in a hired car.Our hotel in Dallas was the Stoneleigh. The staff were very pleasant and friendly.Robert the valet was most helpful. The hotel was clean and full of old world charm, but could do with some refurbishment. Seating and carpets are looking quite shabby.Apart from that we had a most enjoyable stay, the bed and pillows were very comfortable we would stay there again if we are ever in Dallas again.
