Charming Historic Hotel
By sunshine, 1/27/12
This grand hotel is full of charm and beauty. It is in a great location for walking to many interesting places, including the football stadium. Our room was smaller than other hotels I have stayed in, but I never stayed in a hotel with this much history and I would go back any time I travel to San Antonio. Staff is wonderful and helpful. Restaurant food is delicious. Valet parking was quick and efficient with a fine covered parking garage.

Historical hotel with lousy service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/31/11
If you're looking for an antique setting with lots of problems, leaking pipes, no cool air, squeeky vintage beds this is your place. Although it has a great location to all downtown spots, it's run very poorly and disorganized. We called about check in time and were informed it was 3pm upon arrival we were told 4pm after waiting at the bar for an hour we attempted to check in at 5pm and still room not ready "housekeeping had not communicated with front desk". If we were attending a wedding there we would have left and gotten another room somewhere else. After our rehearsal dinner, we checked in at 9:30pm and that's with confirmed reservations.

Bathroom Hot Water and Pressure Problems
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/20/10
The front desk staff were very nice, but could have received better info about self parking. Get ticket for dash from valet people after parking. Room was very nice large, bathroom was small. Problem occurred when tried to take bath. In Rm 402 there is no pressure and the water in tub or faucet never got hot. Front desk refunded parking and would check into the problem. I would recommed staying there if you know what to expect -not new but good location and vintage charm, but check the hot water first.

do not stay here
By Laura, 4/27/10
We arrived - late - at 11pm the valet staff was excellent! through out our stay they were the one good point at this hotel. They were friendly helpful and went above and beyond what I expected. Even offering to take our luggage to the car upon check out and giving us directions when we left the hotel. The beds in our room were made up except the pillows were strewn as if someone had used them. The bathroom was not clean and the paint was peeling above the bathtub. Only one elevator was working most of the weekend. The front desk staff and management were inept and rude and unproffesional. They blatantly ignored our problems. Our reservation was prepaid but upon check in the entire amt was charged to the card again. Needless to say this ruined the weekend. We will be following up our complaints with the corporate offices and the local media. Again don't stay here unless you have an extra $400 in the bank for them to hold a few days for you.

DO NOT STAY HERE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/30/09
this is the worst hotel i ever stay. the rooms are old and dirty. the rooms smell nasty. the beds make a lot of noise. the lady who clean doesn't clean good. we stay there four days and she didn't even wash the toilet and the shower. the pool is old and dark because the lights on the pool doesn't work. overall this is the worst hotel . i would never stay there even if they gave me free stay.

Awesome Bed...Location not so much!
By Sunshine, 2/23/09
This was my third trip to San Antonio; I've always stayed in a hotel located right on the riverwalk. This hotel was about a 5-block walk to the Alamo and about two blocks to the Riverwalk. The room was a very good size for three people to stay comfortably. The beds were awesome, alot of pillows, down comforters, and Sealy mattress with the plush pillow top. This is one of the best beds I've ever slept on. The staff was not very helpful, each time we asked for information, we got nothing, or an 'I don't know'. The hotel is across the street from a park that is filled with homeless people. There were people sleeping on all the surrounding streets. At night, I didn't feel real safe walking back to the room. I'd say for families with children....do not stay here. I will not stay here again, simply because of the location and the surrounding area.

Do you like antiques? Try sleeping in one.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/6/08
This Wyndham might have qualified as a 3 1/2 star hotel in 1948 but in 2008, I expect an ac plug or two for cellphone chargers and a computer. My room was tiny and the toiled positioned in such an odd location, I had to fold my legs like pretzels just to use it. Staff was friendly and helpful. It's not their fault this place is such a dump.

Not recommended
By Kathy, 7/20/08
It's not my habit to complain, but for the price and reputation, I'm afraid the St. Anthony does not measure up. The hotel did not provide more than a single little bottle of shampoo, this for a four-day stay. Even after a call to the front desk, this was not amended. Even worse, toilet paper was not replenished. It shouldn't matter, especially when it comes to supplying TP, but I was in a suite, to boot. Overall, the St. Anthony is a bit creaky and creepy for my taste, but it's the poor service that will keep me away.

AMAZING
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/16/07
Well we got there early one morning just looking at one of their basic double bed rooms. They allowed us to go look at the room before paying for one and after seeing the smaller size of the normal rooms we asked about a suite. They then gave us one of the nicer suites for the same rate as the basic room.. You actually feel like your stepping back in time. The room was very clean and very nice.. I would reccomend this Hotel to anyone in the San Antonio area.. We stayed two nights and had nothing but the best service all around from the front desk to the valet parking.. Will be returning later this year for another get away. ""We were in Suite 984 I highly reccomend requesting it..""
