Screwed up reservation
By jenn, 10/3/11
I made a reservation a month out and later called hotel to add a day. I did not find out until day of arrival the manager messed up my dates on reservation. I then received the run around as they denied all responsability of the mistake. They charged me for night I was not hotel and am currently in process of getting charges removed. I was told even though reservation was messed up I still had a place to stay first night. After arriving late the first night they told me they gave my room away to a internet sell. This was the most horrible experience and the most awful treatment I have ever received. It is worth paying as much as possible to not stay in that motel. I found lodging at another super 8 further up interstate. It was dirty, fridgerator did not work, drains stoppers were broken. It ruined my trip:(

Loved, Loved, Loved the check-in clerk.
By Huds, 7/4/11
It was what I expected. It is the cheapest and closest hotel to 6th street. There was a definite party atmosphere which was fine with me because that's what I was there for. I probably would pay the extra money and get one of the more expensive hotels if I had children with me. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who needed to get off the road for the night or anyone who is looking for a cheaper place to stay within walking distance of sixth street. The room was clean and basic. I don't care so much about the basic part but cleanliness is very important to me and I was satisfied with this room. Those girls do a really good job keeping it clean. The clerk, however, was my favorite part of this hotel. He was older, forthright and hilarious. He reminded me of a sweet grandpa. I would definitely go back to this hotel the next time I stay in Austin.

This place is awful!!
By Sheila, 7/16/10
Where do I even begin..I'm on a road trip with friends and came across this motel late at night online, looked close to the general area of Austin we wanted to be in, and since we're on a budget, chose to stay here 2 nights. BAD IDEA. To say the room is outdated is an understatement. Not only was the room dreary, dark, and run down, but the bathroom was basically falling apart. The tissue holder was coming out of the wall, the sink screeched and squealed very loudly each and every time we turned the water on, never got hot water in the shower, the ironing board served absolutely no purpose considering there was no padding on it, there was a stain on a face cloth and ON THE SHEETS. Then of course there was the wonderful customer-service lacking staff. Around check out time, we locked out keys in the trunk of the car and had to wait for triple AAA, so we politely went to the front desk to explain our dilemna, twice, and both times there was a sign "Be back in 5 minutes". Once we were finally able to locate someone and tell them that we would leave as soon as Triple AAA came. The manager acted as though she could care less. About 20 minutes later we were finally able to begin packing the car, but the arrogant and insensitive manager couldn't resist coming up to the car to basically repremand us for still being there 20 minutes late. claiming that we were wasting her staff's time and should have waited outside. Outside, in the sun on a 100 degree say, with about a dozen bags. So a sincere thank you to your staff for offering your help let alone some slack in an already stressful moment. The area felt unsafe and actually made us very nervous. We found out later after checkout from a local EMS friend that homeless people often throw their party's at this motel around the first of the month when they get their government assistance. Don't get me wrong, they're very deserving of a shower and a warm bed at a hotel, but maybe not for partys. An awful experience and the staff never once made any type of attempt to be courteous or hospitable.I would never in my life stay here again and would absolutely not recommend this motel to anyone I know.

Dirty and Rude Service
By Yuli, 5/6/09
This was the worst place I have stayed. The room was absolutely disgusting. The worst part was the service. The manager was a complete ass hole to us. I would not recommend this place to anyone no matter what the price.

Great Hotel, Great Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/10/09
We were a 15 minute walk from the Convention Center and a 10 minute walk from the O-Zone UofT arena. Great access to everything. Hotel was clean and the staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was normal for a Continental breakfast. Free WiFi from the City of Austin. Local calls and 1-800 numbers no charge from your room. Parking was great and we felt very safe. Nothing fancy here but for the price it was great. We would definitely stay again.

Overall a good value....
By Jessica, 1/28/09
For the most part we really enjoyed our stay. Room was clean and we had a great view of the state capital and down town. It was a beautiful walk to 6th st. You don't want to walk the other way though, definately the "bad side" of Austin. The bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in and they got me an extra pillow. As far as the "looks", it is an older hotel and it's exactly what you'd expect for the age. The only downfall was the rudeness of the morning clerk. We had already told 3 employees we were staying another night and then she called our room and demanded we come to the desk NOW. Then a man called about 10 minutes later, I didn't give him the chance to be rude. The nitght time staff was great. Aside from that all was good and we'd definately stay again.

Don't let the low price fool you!
By AngelaB, 7/24/08
The website says multilingual staff. This doesn't mean english. The housekeeping was terrible. They even came into my room one time without knocking. I found a sharp dental pick in my bed. My sink made a funny noise everytime I turned it on. The curtain over the window was broken. There were nails coming out of the wall in one place from a poor construction job which they charged me $100 for. I guess with the low cost they have to get their money somehow. To top things off, it is not as close to 6th street as it is made out to be. You have to cross the freeway and walk through the slums to get there. STAY HERE WITH CAUTION OR DON'T STAY HERE AT ALL!

Got any rooms? Okay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/17/07
This was a decent motel that offered everything that we expected. We had a short 10 minute walk to sixth street which is not the safest of walks, but with three other people, we felt safe. Upon check-in, we were greeted by a motel attendent who did not understand a word we were saying and seemed incompetent at operating his computer. After 15 minutes of explaining to him that we paid for our room on the internet, he reluctantly handed us our room key. We also saw a cop in the lobby that looked like he was an illegal rent-a-cop from panama. Our room was very pleasant and spacious that featured a fridge, warm-running water, and a functioning a/c. The bed had a little bit of sag in the middle, but with some rearranging, I was able to get a good nights rest. I recommend this place to any college student who is looking to have a good time with a tight budget.

location is good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/3/06
the owner of this motel charged me more than the confirmed rate by mistake, but when i pointed it out, he said that's not his fault but mine. he was incompetent enough not to set it right straightaway but just kept grumbling at me and wasted much of my time. fortunately, there was one other staff and she was smart enough to set it right. if it were not that trouble, i would rather had liked this place . rooms were not very clean ,one of the room doors didn't lock properly, plug of bathtub was loose and you can't fill it .....etc. though rooms were spacious , amenities such as refrigerator , microwave were very comvenient. furthermore ,entertainment area like 6th street are within walking distance.

Just avoid this place. There is a very very nice Super 8 five miles north of this one on I-35. If you think you're getting location it's actually about 5 miles to downtown/6th street area. Our sheets had cigarette holes in them, the blanket had stains, and there were various cigarette burns on the linoleum tile. From what I understand our room was actually nicer than our friends staying next door, which scares me. It is worth paying twice this much to stay at the Hilton or the Omni and actually be right in downtow. Don't let this palce ruin your fun Austin experience!
