24 hour cancelation policy

I had a family emergency and was unable to make my trip. I called the morning of the day I had reservations. I was told by Alex and Alfonso that they have a 24hour policy. I am completly aware of this policy however, this emergency was an unexpected one and compltly out of my hands. You would think they would have given a courtesy cancelation. No..all I got was a sorry. So I was charged for the room for the 1st night. I have stayed at this hotel for the past couple of years however this experience has changed my views on this particulat Motel 8. Horrible!!!!!
